  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

WOW! A five year plan eeh? Nope, I have no such animal? I try my very best to live each day like it's my last and I think that is mainly because of so many medical issues since 2000. Also, when my late wife's cancer returned and we lost her in less than a year from that diagnosis, I learned that it all can be gone or at the very least... be very different from yesterday so, I have chosen to take things one day at a time!

Some may wish to see that as being a negative person however, I see that as being positive simply because we do not know what the future brings, therefore we need to live each day like tomorrow may never come?

Even the Bible says something about living for today because tomorrow may be too late? Now I'm not saying anyone else should believe this way or live the way I do, it just works for me is all I'm trying to say here. OK, I'm done now, lol.

Yeah for me, I kind of live day by day too. I mean obviously I plan somewhat because my work demands it and other things like dentist appts and school for my kids dictates some things. Also the fact that I basically have to live paycheck to paycheck so planning just isn't a real option to me. Yes I plan to pay my bills off someday and I plan to be with Jesus in eternity, but beyond that, I have no idea :D

Is that as in you used to like them? past tense? :p

Nope! I still love the Oak Ridge Boys and yes Dayhiker, they are still going strong and touring around the country last I heard.

Perhaps I gave the wrong impression with the Oak Ridge Boys in the sense that I don't want a quartet, but rather a 4 or 5 piece band that plays that good old fashion gospel and tours the country playing in churches everywhere???

No....I was just teasing dayhiker cuz he said he liked them instead of saying he likes them LOL.
I hope you get well enough to have a gospel band, that would be fantastic! But if you don't do it here on earth, there's always eternity and you will have no body issues there!

Have a plan. When things in life changes (and they will) please have a plan especially to financially support yourself. Lay everything out because nothing is guaranteed but it is better to have something working in your favor when these changes come along or later in life you want to have a comfortable life.

5 year plan???

5 YEAR PLAN?????

Seriously, I'm beginning to come to a time in my life when buying green bananas isn't advised. Besides, other things so far seem to be working in such a way that keeping a roof over my head is going to be a major accomplishment, and making a five-year plan would be the height of absurdity. Especially if any part of the plan depends on people in government and business doing things that make economic sense.

I have a terrible time thinking 5 yrs into the future beyond that I hope to still be working in 5 yrs. Beyond that who knows what I'll be doing? God but after that I've not clue. Will I have a GF? No idea. Will I be going to the same church? I hope so, but might not be. Who will be my friends? This does seem to have some stability, but I might have a couple of them die on me in 5 yrs. I have at least as many new friends in the resent year as I have long terms friends. I think I can still be living in the same house in 5 yrs. Health wise I expect to be about as healthy as I am today. So there will be some changes that I'll plan into my life but most everything will have some change from now to then. So to make any 5 year plan that has any detail is just a fantasy as far as I can tell.

I think that as we get older that 5 year plan might start to shorten a bit. Funny though because 5 years now doesn't seem as long as it once did. However we do have to have a fuzzy idea of where we intend to be and how we intend to get there or else how can we plan for the financial and time requirements necessary.

Even if a 5 year plan is just that I'd like to go on a cruise between now and that 5 year mark, financially many of us would need to be saving our money for a couple of those years and planning out the use of our vacation time from work accordingly (so we don't use it elsewhere or use it when we really have other important things like a the wedding of a grandchild). And if we are going into retirement years, getting our current debts paid off and not acquiring more should be a priority at some point so that we can live on whatever retirement we do have coming our way.

Really, the only plan I have in life is to stay as happy and healthy as possible. I'm lucky to be in a pretty good financial spot so that I can focus more on those two things. After my husband died I tended to think and worry way too much about the future. But I finally got to a point where I've learned to take one day at a time and I can honestly say I've never been happier.

Since I last posted, most things have remained the same. But I did get 3 new GFs since then. So that has change a whole long in the last few months. I never dreamed this would happen to me!

When you said that, I looked and your last post here was dated January. I thought, hmm, I should maybe ask what brand of vitamins you take. ;) Then I looked again and the date was January 2013. :D
