In the womans discussion thread we have a face the board forum. This is very much like that, but you answer it from your own choosing.

The aim is to put topics on and have people type about them for five minutes... At the end of your "typings" write a couple more questions...

The idea is that lots of opinions will come in about the same topic, and really proivides a great place to think aobut some of the things in life..

So pick one topic and write about it!

What is love to you?

What are your values in relation to money?

You future wishes, dreams and goals?

p.s. This is being placed in a few places.

Love is more of trust as well as being faithful to someone and that you hate to let them go. You never, ever want to let them go. Love is precious, kind, gentle, patient, never envious, and never jealous. It goes on forever and ever. God's love is like all of those.

I want to save money to retire but also tithe more which I haven't been doing since I am unemployed. And that I want to do so from the bottom of my heart.

To personally, stay close and put Christ into my life and put Him first & foremost more important. And that I need to make plans that involve Him in my life and to know what He wants me to do. To do His will and obey His will regardless of the outcome. If He wants me to marry and have a family or not, that is His will.

What is love to you?

Hmm... Love? It's an emotion but also an action. I think it's all the things that corinthians 13 describes, but more as well... In some earlier versions of the bible the word for love is charity... I think that is a better description becuase it's not focused on the emotional aspect of it all... Love is a powerful real thing, it can change lives for the better, and the idea of it being real can change lives for the worse. I hate it when people call the idea of hooking up 'love' or going out at 13... Love for me is when you begin to communicate well and relate in certain terms. But thats the lovey dovey love... Love in normal terms is simply actioned care. You care, so you act upon that care. That is when things can start happening... You mite care for a certain old lady, so you go see you, not just think about her.

Thats what love is. It's when emotion gives way to action.

I could try, but I'd never come closer to explaining love as well as it is explained here. Who better to inspire words about love, than the One who is Love?

What type of love are we talking about here? Agape, Eros, Philia, or Storge? (spellings may be wrong)

Agape is an unconditional, divine love that is given selflessly because of who God is. It seeks the best for the other person no matter what the cost.

Eros would be romantic love, including sexual attraction. It is not lust (lust is greed and selfishness, love plays no part in it). It's the butterflies in our stomach, the warm fuzzies we get when we are around or think about a person we are attracted to.

Philia is brotherly love, a deep friendship with someone of the same sex.

Storge is a general affection, like I love ice cream and I love Stevie Ray Vaughan's music.

Those are really quick generalizations taken from CS Lewis' "The Four Loves". It's important to know what kind of love we're talking about because love takes different forms. To say we love God, love our spouse, love our parents, and love ice cream means that either we take some love too seriously or too lightly, or there are different forms.

Agape is the most important one, I guess my definition would be Philippians 2:1-16

Has anyone else ever noticed that 1 Corinthians 13 falls between 2 chapters on spiritual gifts? Likely when Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 13 he was thinking of it in terms of spiritual gifts. I think it's still useful in the other contexts that it is often used in, but probably isn't applied to the one that it was really intended for.

My life I wish was as beautiful as a tulip. So delicate so headstrong so graceful so tall
If my life were like the tulip, I would not always be so disappointed in myself. I find I am disappointed in myself because of what I think others may think of me. I know these things I think are not true and simply do not matter but I go on in this bla. Instead of being a beautiful tulip, I am a tulip weary unwatered generally sad. Again I have no reason to be, but this seems to be my life story. Won't God lift me up? won't He water me again? won't the Son shine on me? I need something someone. I am drifting drifting. Swiftly I am falling.

Won't somebody catch me?

The location of the love chapter (1 Cor 13) in-between those two chapters on spiritual gifts really helps to extract its utmost importance. Even those gifts given specifically by God for stellar uses in advancing His Kingdom are absolutely useless without love. If these gifts are worthless without the characteristics of love described in chapter 13, how much more everything else in this world? For me, understanding its location makes it more widely applicable in more significant ways. That might just be me though.

Hope is a beautiful thing, maybe even the best of things, and like no good thing, hope never dies... A paraphased quote from shawshank redemption. A beautiful movie. It helped me to realise theres not a reason to ever give up hope. Witness, Jesus loves you greatly and never gonna let you go. Sometimes you have to go searching for him tho, because little things in us, blind him from us. I've once seen it like a one sided mirror-glass... All he see is us, and all we see is us. We have to try and acutely focus through the mirror that reflect our perfections and imperfections and see that awesome king on the other side. Personally i wanna see him. I think it's relaly easy to get caught up in our sadness, but i think even easier to get caught up in our happiness, becuase there is no obvious need for Jesus... If only then we could get a glimpse of hell.

Jesus is here to save us and rescue us from our sin. Not the consequences we have on the earth for that sin, but from the eternal consquences of it.

Love is picking up his socks off the floor and never giving him a pointed look.
Love is asking for forgiveness for your part of the argument and not demanding an apology in return.
Love is the cuddle in the middle of the night
Love is going to her parent's house for Christmas without making her feel guilty
Love is waiting for the altar to unwrap the gifts......
And my favorite: Love is taking the time to pray together and read the Bible together
I love my hubby.....

Your future wishes, dreams and goals?

I figured I would go for this one - I have lots of goals and dreams but they are all seperated in to categories:

Life Goals/Dreams

Get married
Have Children
Love life
Work in the Church
Help at least 1 person come to Christ

"Fun" Goals/Dreams

Go to the giraffe manor in South Africa and adopt a Giraffe
Drive an army tank
Go paragliding!!! - really want to do this!!!!!

Okay I'll add some questions now:

Have you ever been in love???
What is the best dream you've ever had?

Before getting married or having children is on my list of priorities, I want to get a good job, with good pay, a good place to live and where I could afford it but also put God in my life first and foremost as the focal point.
