Jimmy Kimmel opined in response to Biden's "the Lord come down and talk to me" idea - and said "Democrats are less concerned about whether the Lord is going to come down and talk to Biden - and more concerned that Biden's time on Earth might end so his time to go and talk to God might be just around the corner" - or something to that effect.

Maybe we should pray for Kimmel and Biden, and that these folks tread carefully around anything Christianity related, and do not mock our faith. I do not like when entertainment figures or politicians mock the Christian or Catholic faith.

It should be known that George Stephanopoulos is a staunch democrat. He served in the Clinton Administration,
and despite Hillary having him fired, he still wrote a book with glowing remarks for the Clintons.

He also stacked his panel on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, with Democrats, like Donna Brazile
who was fired from CNN when she moderated a debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, for giving
Hillary Clinton's people the questions that would be asked ahead of time. She then got rewarded by becoming
chairperson of the DNC.

Turns out Biden gave George Stephanopoulos and the ABC producers, a list of questions that were to be
asked. Nothing other than what was on the list could be asked.

I just watched it and was unimpressed for several reasons.

I think that it was a typical exercise in damage control, and IMHO, it was poorly constructed and executed. Stephanopoulos did a good job and stuck with the hard question(s)… but Biden couldn't even stay on point to that basic question of... “Are you fit to be Pres for the next 4 years?” All Biden seemed to want to communicate is that his past record should be enough assurance that he was physically and therefore, mentally capable. I don’t think that this one, 22-minute interview was enough to come close to settling folks’ minds on the issue.

Biden was stronger than in the debate, but still very weak throughout… stammering, pausing and losing track of his thoughts. He kept claiming that he’s got an active itinerary and that he’s up to the challenge, but then turns around and more or less blames that itinerary for exhausting himself so much that he faltered in the debate… as if a typical presidential debate is more demanding than a meeting with international heads of state… IDK?

Stephenopolous was asked by a TMZ reporter, shortly after his interview of Biden -- if he thought Biden was able/capable of another four years and George's answer was "no". He later commented that this is indeed what happened but he regretted that he answered the question.

Honestly, I can not watch politics anymore in 2024. Both sides have become a mess over the past 5-10 years, but has been a mess in the making since social media became a thing in the 2000s, and even further back when cable TV, CNN, Fox and the other stations became a thing in the 1980s-1990s.

What are your thoughts? Has it been harder to watch political stuff in 2024 compared to 2012, 2016 or 2020?

That's a hard question, Alex.
I mean the simple answer is yes!! Without question!!

But I truly believe that in my youth political stuff was hard to watch and each and every year it got harder to watch. But I grew up in the DC area and even in DC proper. I went to grade school with the kids of congressmen and ambassadors both to and from countries from around the world. So, I was both horrified by politics and thought that it was just part of life to be thoroughly steeped in both it and the attending mindset the comes with it. I was kinda' like the frog in a pot of water the was slowly heating up, lol. And so were many of my friends and others who went on to make a life in the political arena.

I used to read 3-4 newspapers a day... not thoroughly, but familiar with "what's hot today" kinda' thing... I needed to for my job, yada yada. I quit reading/watching the news back in about 2007. With the internet, there was always some tentacle of the news that creeps in, ya' know... like now when I open a new tab, it defaults to MSN crud... and sometimes I just have to take a peek at the train wreck that happening, lol.

Things are definitely getting more and more polarized, and much more caustic. I mean I used to love the old SNL point-counterpoint thing with Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtain... their viciousness was funny but a somewhat accurate portrayal of the way it was back in the '70. Politicians and talking heads would say that it wasn't accurate at all... today I don't think anyone cares if it's accurate of them or not. Today they might consider it a weak portrayal, lol. IDK.

So far it is a lot easier in 2024

In 2019 we had wall-to-wall riots in America and attacks on the whitehouse throwing rocks at the President etc
We had complete reversal of election night results in certain states that came in days and in some cases weeks after the election.
We had ballot harvesting and undocumented mail in ballots that could not be paired with their envelops etc.
We had after election mail in ballots that skewed heavily away from the average distribution of votes on election day.

Yeah, DC can be very political, as most of the politics in the USA happen in that 70 square mile area (180 square km). For the bold part in your reply, that is why I do not use Microsoft and instead use Google on Firefox on my laptop. No news on the home screen. Yeah, 2019-2021 were some rough years. We will have to see what 2024 and 2028 bring. Polarization has gotten worse over the last decade or two.
