• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

God is so good. My obsession to drink and self-destruct is gone. Rehab four months ago, preceded by a week in the psychiatric unit of my local hospital, really helped me start off on the right foot. I know that I have done all I can to work my AA program, almost done my fourth step, and keeping in touch with my sponsor. I am also involved in service with my home group. I spoke last Friday. I am chairing the meeting in June. I am also Intergroup rep, responsible for getting institutional commitments for my home group.

I also have an attitude of gratitude, and I am not afraid to listen to anyone share how they stay sober, because I might learn a thing or two from them.

Just checking in. My four month date is this weekend. God is sooooooo good.

Hugs,
Trish

Congrats, Trish!

Every time you feel that coin in your pocket, let it remind you that here is something in your life that truly you couldn't do for yourself, and CHRIST did in and through you. That coin represents to us what the scripture calls "crowns."

Rev. 4:10 "the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne,"

Now you know why they cast their crowns before the throne - because they didn't earn them; Christ did the work within them and they merely cooperated.
Praise the Lord!

What a lovely image...casting my coin as a crown before the Lord. I recently found my 6 year coin from my last long sobriety, which ended in 2007. That was when I got the 6 year coin, September 2007. I got sober that time right after 9/11.

I am not beating myself up. I would never have learned about my arrogance, had it not been for inpatient rehab.

Thanks for your support.

Trish

good job trish!!

i like to think that i own my coins and i aint gonna give em back. only by my decision will they be returned- and i have decided not to do so.

A former sponsor had me give back the coins I earned before my relapse in 2007. It was interesting to give them back to a group for reuse. I felt such a sense of loss knowing I had thrown away over 6 years of sobriety.
