  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dinosaurs are mentioned in the scripture:

"Look at the behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
What strength he has in his loins,
what power in the muscles of his belly!
His tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are tubes of bronze,
his limbs like rods of iron.
He ranks first among the works of God,
yet his Maker can approach him with his sword."

(Job 40:15-19)

From the article:

Christopher Eldridge, director of New York's Museum of Natural History, raved that the acquisition was "absolutely inconceivable" and "not to be believed." Dr. Harmon Briggs, a Smithsonian Institution paleobiologist, gushed in a phone interview that the discovery of the 5,000-year-old beast was "mind-boggling" and "in defiance of all the human senses."

To call those quotes "out of context" is an understatement. More of the usual creationist lies.

I wonder which dating method they used to fine the age of the TRex? I don't think the link says what they used.

Using advanced dating processes from the cutting edge of biblical paleontology,

But what method did they use?

You mean to say that the decay rates used in dating techniques really are variable? I find it hard to believe. Still, if it's true, this is exciting stuff. It's not just biology and geology on the block here. We'll have to completely rethink physics as well.

I wish I was younger. It would be extraordinary to go to college in light of this new information. Oral Roberts University! Who'd have thought it?

gladiatrix, I know that this is a lot to swallow. Up until today, I was convinced that the YEC people were completely wrong. But really, it looks like it was us that were wrong.. Don't kill the messenger. Calling these people a "joke" because they have bad news for us is just wrong.

Sounds like sour grapes from someone who can't admit that they were wrong all along and that there really is a God.

This really is one of the more disheartening aspects of this discovery.  I'm going to have to really force myself to admit that Kent Hovind knew what he was talking about all along.  Who'd a thunk it.

Even if you're sceptical of the museum's curator, the evident agreement by the other experts is pretty hard to ignore.

I hope the dating methods used are discussed in a "reputable" journal. If the peer-reviewed publications won't accept this, then we really will know whether the bias creation scientists have complained about is real. If so, it would be a sad indictment of the scientific community.

However, I trust that scientists are sufficiently open-minded to rethink their position once they are proven wrong.
