3 killed in Colorado Walmart shooting; suspect sought

Two men and a woman were killed in a shooting inside a suburban Denver Walmart on Wednesday night that forced customers to either hide or flee.

Thornton police reported "multiple parties down" and advised people to stay away from the area as dozens of police cruisers and emergency vehicles raced to the scene.

The men died at the store, and the woman died at a hospital.

Police spokesman Victor Avila said a man nonchalantly entered the store and fired a handgun into a group of people before fleeing in a car. No one has been arrested.

The man wanted for what appears to be a random killing spree at a Colorado Walmart was arrested Thursday after an hourslong manhunt.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Scott Ostrem, was taken into custody this morning, according to the Thornton Police Department.

Suspect's Neighbors React To Thornton Walmart Shooting

SWAT team members were preparing to enter the apartment where Scott Ostrem lives when suddenly a car matching the description of the wanted vehicle passed by.

There, stuck in traffic at a red light, they found Ostrem. He was taken into custody without incident not far from his home at 71st Place and Samuel Drive.

Scott Ostrem charged with 6 counts of murder, 30 counts of attempted murder in Thornton Walmart shooting

The man accused of walking into a Walmart Supercenter in Thornton and killing three people last week was charged on Monday with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Scott Ostrem, 47, appeared in Adams County District Court wearing a yellow-and-white-striped jail uniform. He is accused of randomly firing a gun into the store, striking the victims and causing chaos as frightened shoppers and store employees fled. He then drove away.

Ostrem was charged with two counts of murder for each of the three victims. In addition, he was charged with 30 counts of attempted murder, plus one additional charge of a crime of violence. Seventeenth Judicial District Attorney Dave Young said more charges could be filed as additional victims are identified. He urged people who were inside the Walmart at the time of the shooting but fled before officers arrived to call police or prosecutors.

I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm... the joke being that when it's a Muslim perpetrator, people call for ending immigration and hunting down Muslims, but when the perpetrator is white, it's usually ignore the problem or offer thoughts and prayers.

If anything, the comment is directed at the people who respond to such tragedies with demands retaliation against entire racial, ethnic or religious group based on the action of one person. Your dismay should be directed at those folks.

Well, it would have been nice to see this same sadness when people were talking about banning Muslim immigrants and complaining about refugee resettlement after the attack in New York.
