Some lostpedia tidbits:

The title of the episode, "Left Behind," is also the title of a novel by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins giving a fictional account of what might happen after the "rapture." (The rapture is the future vanishing of Christians to meet Christ in heaven, believed in by many evangelical and fundamentalist Christians.) After Kate, Juliet, Jack, and Sayid are left behind by the Others, Sayid says regarding the Others' sudden disappearance, "It's like fifty people disappeared into thin air."

The Feast of Saint Lucy falls on December 13, the same day that the events of Left Behind occur. The Losties have a feast on that day.

The barracks' rec room has a Mousetrap game, previously revealed to be Locke's favorite.
Locke tells The Others that Kate is a good person. (Good and bad people) But Locke's opinion of Kate changes when The Others tell him about her criminal past.

Sawyer is reading Watership Down again.

Juliet says it was the 4th time her shoulder had been dislocated

The 4 digit code that Juliet types in is 1623 (also: 1+6-2+3=8)

Has Locke joined The Others? If so, does that make him a good person?

How did Locke hurt his hand? (It was bandaged)

Why was the barrier turned off? How could Juliet tell that it was off?

Juliet mentions that The Monster doesn't like "our fences" -- does this imply the existence of other similarly protected facilities on the island?

What were the flashes as the monster approached Juliet and Kate?

Where/How did Juliet learn her self-defense moves?

Was Jack gassed at the same time as Kate, if so, why was he still asleep a day later?

Excellant question. For lack of anything else, maybe it was because Jack was still inside where the smoke was still concentrated, while Kate was outside in the fresh air.

The Feast of Saint Lucy falls on December 13, the same day that the events of Left Behind occur. The Losties have a feast on that day.

Very possibly a coincidence. It's pulling things from very different sources (Catholic history and current fiction). But I wouldn't be completely surprised if it was intentional, just another little Easter Egg. Very interesting nonetheless

The barracks' rec room has a Mousetrap game, previously revealed to be Locke's favorite.

What a great Easter Egg!! (At least, I'm assuming it's not significant.)

that
Locke tells The OthersKate is a good person. (Good and bad people) But Locke's opinion of Kate changes when The Others tell him about her criminal past.

This actually jumped out at me a bit too. It makes me think that there has to be some huge significance on the island to being a good person, for it to register that huge.
Of course, Locke is a pretty honest person overall, and dishonesty hits close to him because of daddy issues. I wonder if he's just genuinely shocked and disgusted by Kate's past?

We still don't know for sure whether he killed the cop at the commune, though I'd put money down that he didn't.

Has Locke joined The Others? If so, does that make him a good person?

Benry told him as much in the second season, though we don't know whether that can be trusted or not.

How did Locke hurt his hand? (It was bandaged)

I wondered this as well.

Why was the barrier turned off? How could Juliet tell that it was off?

I assumed she turned it off, and we just didn't see her turn it back on for the monster. Or maybe she knew that the other Others would turn it off to cross it, and have no need to reactivate it.

Where/How did Juliet learn her self-defense moves?

Maybe they have a self-defense club that meets after the book club and before the scrapbooking? ^_^

Was Jack gassed at the same time as Kate, if so, why was he still asleep a day later?

This one really jumped out at me last night. The only thing I can think of (outside continuity error) is that they promised to take him with them, then broke the promise.

i actually enjoyed it too. though kate isn't my favorite person :p

i wondered about locke's hand too. i think he's so eager for acceptance and has been his whole life because of his father that he was easy prey for the Others. i feel bad for him in that context that he's needy but i can understand why he'd go with the ones who sat his dad right in front of his face ya know?

when he was saying goodbye to kate and he said he fought for her but then he heard all she'd done and then said something like "forgiveness isn't their strong point" it almost made me think of like the gatekeepers to heaven. they decide who is good or not but the Others have been anything but completely good since we've seen them so i don't get it.

when smokey came over to juliette and kate and starting like flashing at juliette i wondered.....was it assessing whether she was ''good" or not? and recall it left once it did that but then when they're at the force field, was the reason it kept coming was because it was actually after kate and that's the reason why juliette reaches for the key to get herself away from it so quickly?

i don't buy that they don't know what smokey is. how would they know how to build that force field fence and know that 'it didn't like it' if they didn't know what it was?

i LOVED how they wove sawyer's ex into helkping out kate. that was great!! and remember when she saw her mom in the bathroom her mom saying the next time she saw her the first thing she'd do is scream help? and remember that's exactly what she did when kate saw her in the hospital.

also someone posted something about the feast of saint lucy? remember kate called herself lucy and said it was from memorizing all the saints in sunday school?

i loved the whole conning sawyer thing. not bc of the con but bc of the way it turned out. it was so cool to see sawyer looking around in amazement at what he had created. it was so sweet :) but i wodnmer what happens when jack returns to camp next week and are we going to see a power struggle between him and sawyer. does sawyer really not want the responsibility or will he be so proud of what he accomplkished by being nice that he;ll fight to retain power?

i did think the way it ended just completely sucked....

Couldn't smokey have gone over the fence, the same way Sayid, Locke and kate did?
They used a tree to climb over at a certain location. I think Juliet turned on the microwaves and nuked smokey as he went by, which made him high-tail it the other direction.

Smokey returns in Episode 3x15, "Left Behind". This time, Smokey is chasing after Kate and Juliet. In an encounter with the two, Smokey does something we really haven't seen to date. He flashes bright lights in Juliet's face. This seems different than the scanning we saw with Eko.
My thought on this is maybe smokey is "brainwashing" Jules. Like a way of control to make sure she is going to follow through with the plan.

Also, when Smokey appears at the fence, we see Smokey emerge from several pieces that join together to form one big smokey. When Smokey runs away, he appears to break into two pieces.

Interestingly, as Smokey approaches the fence, there are three large "heads" that are very noticeable. Could this be confirmation that Smokey is indeed the "Cerberus" mentioned on the Blast Door Map? Is it possible that Smokey is comprised of three separate entities that are capable of joining together, or working independently. Could this explain why sometimes we hear the clackety-clak noises of a roller coaster when Smokey appears, and sometimes we don't?
What do you think?
