The 1957 B/W ‘3:10 to Yuma’ with Glenn Ford playing the bad guy, Ben Wade and Van Hefin the good guy, Dan Evans was the better movie. The ending of the new movie was so unbelievable. Also in the gun battles in westerns in the 50’s, guns fired people get hit but they don’t bleed. The new movie has a bit about 6 sticks of dynamite and a horse getting blown into a pink mist that I didn’t miss in the 1957 movie. Both are available through Netflix.

The violence:
Is it like the old "CHIPS" freeway accident scenes?
People getting shot everywhere, blood exploding from
everywhere?
Or was the violence tied to the story?
The beginning of Savng private Ryan, was brutal, but I don't think they even came close to the realism that people there saw that survived the battle.

Violence can be overdone, but it can be too clean too.
The old versions, someone was shot, they grabbed thier gut or chest and fell over, rarely any blood. The Doctor came and they drug the body off. The only suffereing was time for monologing just before the person died.

So, if this is overdone, thats one thing, but if its to real, then thats good.

It's fits the movie. It's not over done or under done.

SPR was an incredible film.
Of course being there would be much more scarier, but I don't think you can get any more real than that.
Spielburg made WW2 movie that would do any ww2 vet proud.

I love 3:10 to Yuma.

The thing that really makes it a great movie for me, is the way that the relationship between Prince and Wade is so perfectly portrayed.

And also, it's the first decent western in...forever, basically.

It's the first decent one since Unforgiven or Open Range, probably.
