((This RP is set in the year 2113. First post will follow in a second but would like to lay a few ground rules.
1. Please, NO one liners. Put some effort and imagination into it.
2. Actually that's pretty much it other than the obvious rules that are enforced by the site. OH, if you want to join, I would appreciate a request, but also put in what your first post would be right under the ((can I join)) bit.
And away we go!))

((Oh by the way, I will need a villain, maybe even more than one!))

The sun peaked over the Earth as Altaran Wulfe made his approach in the Sovereign. Instantly the forward display dimmed to compensate for the ammount of light bombarding the small craft. He made sure all the sequences were set right for landing safely in Halifax, Canada. The staport there was his preferred choice and he would rest there for a bit.

He was just returning home from a trickly little job, but it was properly completed and Altaran was in a particularly content mood. After verifying that all was as it should be, he leaned back and closed his eyes, letting out a great sigh of satisfaction. The job had provided him with a good portion of spare cash. He hadn't gotten proper sleep in days and just wanted bunk down for a day or so.

Altaran sits back up as he feels the Sovereign decelerate and come to a stop. A voice welcomed him home and proceeded to inform him of policies, laws and the sort of city and culture around him. Altaran had heard it so many times, he simply ignored it and moved on through his shutdown procedure. As soon as he was sure everything was secure he stood and moved back into the cargo hold. There he gathered what he would need on the surface which consisted of a duffle bag filled with dirty clothes and bathroom kit, his wallet and his Palm Com.
At the very back of the large room was a seamless wall. Altaran simply walked up, placed his full hand on a random spot and then stood still for a second. Suddenly, thin lines appeared tracing and area just large enough to be a regular sized door. The rectangular cutout shifted inward and then glided to the left. The light from the outside world over took the cargo bay lights and Altaran had to squint for a bit as his eyes adjusted. As walked through the portal a busy landscape revealed itself and he smiled slightly as he continued on and the ship sealed itself again.

Altaran was home…

((I replied, and thank you!))

Altaran made his way off the platform and into the terminal. There he was stopped by some emotionless guards that went through his belongings and pockets. Once they were satisfied that Altaran wasn't going to pose any physical threat to the people of Earth, they allowed him to pass to the next stage of his re-entry into civilization. He was scanned a couple times, his hand print and retina pattern were taken once each and he had to sign a few more documents saying that if he was going to stay for an extended period of time, he would be an upstanding citizen and that the country could deport him at any given moment without warning. Even though this was where Altaran spent most of his adult life, he had actually grown up on the moon and didn't have full citizenship.

Even though there seemed to be a lot of bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo that he had to go through, the whole of it only really took 30 minutes. In no time at all, he was heading through more doors and out into the fresh air. He flagged down a terminal taxi (first ride was free), advised the pilot of his destination and off they went. As flew above the lights and joined the air traffic, a tourist channel played on the view screen.

A middle aged man dressed in a decorative, foreign looking business suit, walked any interested travelers through the history of the country and planet. Altaran knew it all too well. No more war, no more pollution, no more poverty…That’s only what they told you. The Earth Leadership Council hid things well, and little escaped them. Altaran, along with a handful of others, was the exception to that rule and as long as the council didn’t realize that, he was fine.

Cossette sat at a table in the outdoor diner, counting her profit from the last job. The people she took it off of were dirt, and though working for them wasn't exactly a joy, it was a pleasure taking their money for it when she was done. It was in these times between jobs that she chose to enjoy herself, or as much as she possibly could. Having free time on her hands was a rare thing, and she planned to enjoy every moment of it.

She took a look around her, at all the people living in ignorance. These people lived their lives in a lie, and they couldn't care less. They say ignorance is bliss, but surely this sort of ignorance is unhealthy. As these people were buisy being blissfully unaware, the world was being torn apart from under their feet. She should know, she had helped many people do it.

It isn't as if she enjoyed all of the work that she did. Infact, she despised most of it. If she could she would stand up against all of them, but that would only put both her and her family in danger. Better to work the jobs that pay the best so that she could send the money back to her family. She simply took the jobs that she really cared about when she could.

Life had been hard since her father died, but she had grown hard along with it. She had few friends, and those who actually knew her for what she is avoided familiarity with her.

She took a deep breath of air, letting it all soak in. Even though it was her time off, she still had things to do. Contacts to catch up with, information to gather, and maybe even a little money to make on the side. Standing up and gathering her things, Cossette hailed a cab and headed back to her hotel suite. No time to waste.

The terminal taxi scooted along, over old fashion streets filled with busy pedestrians, towering offices and floating depots. As society went about its business, Altaran wondered what type of effect would be had if one aspect of the big picture was removed. He knew that even the simplest detail helped hold this house of cards together and its extraction could prove to topple a greater portion that one could ever estimate. The idea intrigued him but that’s as far as his interest took him. Altaran also knew that the inner workings of civilization were what allowed people like himself to remain unthreatened…for the most part.

Soon enough the taxi arrived at his usual “home” while on Earth, the Citadel Halifax Hotel. The multi building establishment had lasted the centuries and was now one of the most renowned accommodations in the world. The small vehicle stopped at a drop point, midway up the building. Altaran grabbed his luggage and thanked the pilot. As it sped off, he walked into the lobby and right to a big island desk in the middle of the room.

“I’m here to check in. The suite is under ‘Wulfe’,” he said to the clerk.

I hope you don't mind if I jump in right here...)
The gun rested on the man's back, hidden from view, when he had heard the name.
"The name is O'Mally, and I've been hired to kill you..." he whispered. For a moment nothing happened. Then, "But I don't think I'd do that just for money. I'm not in the business of killing someone like you off."
Axle put the gun away as quickly as it had come out, then went back to sitting down.
"You're a very lucky man," said Axle in an accent tinted with Irish. Axle was a renowned mercenary in the underground system of running things, where people paid others to do their dirty work for them, and who were expected to disappear once they cashed in their paychecks.
"I invite you to my room so we might chat a bit, if you like, about your recent...admirers. It's 404, just so you know."
And with that, not waiting for any kind of response, the nineteen year old legend picked up a newspaper and began laughing at all the weak politicians and their large followings.
People are stupid. They believe anything either because they want to, or they fear it may be true.
This thought echoed in Axle's mind, as he read the articles.
(Is Altaran battle experienced? Cuz that would help with my character, too...)

A sigh escaped Altaran’s lips as he gave his fingerprint to be updated in the hotel’s database. This was his key and the lady behind the desk, seemingly oblivious to the teenager’s comments, handed Altaran a few papers as she smiled sweetly. He wondered how much variety she heard and saw in a day. He put the papers in his bag, then turned to face the reading male. He smiled and leaned against the desk. Altaran was intrigued and was going to see what could happen next.

“I’m sure your employer wouldn’t like it if he didn’t get his desired results. You must be pretty confident in what ever it is you think you know about me. “

Altaran’s demeanor changed almost instantly. Any expression totally lost and his eyes became a void for any trying to see into his soul. Early childhood trauma made him a master of being nothing. What came from his mouth next seemed eerie, only in the sense that one got the impression it wasn’t even a human they were listening to.

“I hope you’re not making any assumptions about my character. I would hate to see you be made a fool of. On the other hand, assume anything you want. Apparently that’s what’s saving my life.”

((are we all in the same hotel? I'm going to assume that we are, if that is okay))

Cossette rode silently as she brooded over the list of things she needed to accomplish before she took on her next job. There were a few contacts to catch up with, as well as a few other...."friends", you could say, that she needed to pay a visit. her life was her work, and even on her down time it seemed to leak it's way in somehow.

Her ice blue eyes darkened as her mind drifted to her last job, the fellow she was hired to "take care of" so to speak had spoken some of her father. How dare he even begin to believe he could cause her to hesitate with word of her family. If anything, it only motivated her to get her job done even faster. True, he knew very little, but still, all anyone knew of her was her name and those inferences gained on first reactions, and those who knew more were no longer around to speak of it. None of her old life had followed her thus far, she had seen to that, and she didn't plan on allowing that to happen any time soon.

Soon enough, they had arrived at the hotel. Cossette longed to take just a few moments to herself in her suite and yet knew that she had little time to spare. Climbing out of the cab she tossed money to the driver, who grumbled that she had payed him too little. She quickly shot him an icy stare that silenced his complaints and walked into the hotel lobby to register before going to her room.

"Don't give me that "Soulless Stare" garbage. If I had wanted to search your soul, I'd have done it by now. Besides, secrets ain't my business. Unless it's deadly secrets, that is."
Axle folded the newspaper, and decided he would rather continue the conversation elsewhere.
"Come on up to my room, if you like. I'm thinking of taking a little snooze. Unless you'd rather talk more about my "employer" as you so blatantly put it."
Later, Axle was opening the door of 404, and he stepped inside, letting the door shut as he took a seat.

Cossett hurredly went through the process required for her to be registered to her room, snatched some papers from the stewardess' hands quite rudely, and hurried in the direction of her suite. It was a large, comfortable thing with an open view of the skyline and all the luxories she could ask for. She kept the room paid for at all times, and the hotel was required not to rent it to anyone else. She was very particular about her things.

Knowing her things had already been sent to her suite, she brushed a long strand of black hair out of her eyes and walked rather quickly to the elevator that would take her to her floor. On her way, she bumped into a man somewhat familiar, but paid no notice and continued on. She wasn't much for small talk- nor talk at all for that matter- and she wasn't going to waste time with it now.

((Is it okay that I have Cossette being "somewhat familiar" with Altaran?))
