ABC's nite line used their whole show tonight to cover the cult. I fell asleep when it began, lol. It's strange, I can remember nothing of that time although I recognized his face a little. Jim Jones is imbedded in my mind. It's terribly sad for their family that they werent important enough to stick around. Maybe I could understand it better if they were elders. They were definitely searching for something..
I guess I misunderstood something when they said the very first. Maybe they meant in the u s.

Ha ha, I was just watching a few YouTube videos on this. I didn't know there's a new documentary on it coming up.

As someone who's religious, I actually find the dark side of religion interesting.

It seemed to me that the program was reaching to find something unique about this particular group (Heaven's Gate) and came up with "first leader to lead his people to death." Jim Jones would certainly seem to qualify, not to mention a few others, so all I can conclude was that the network was defining "lead his people to death" in a very narrow sense.

Maybe the idea was that Jim Jones made everyone commit suicide but didn't announce it in advance like Heaven's Gate did. That group expected death and wanted it.

Or there's the case of the people in Waco who died. They could have avoided it if their leader had made another choice and Janet Reno, the Attorney General, had not decided that killing them was preferable to taking more time in which to allow them to surrender.
