They did pick up a few more BP pieces over the winter and have a couple of guys in AAA that can be shuffled back and forth to give the BP guys a rest periodically. The big question mark seems to be the starting pitchers, if they can't get it done that will wear out the BP. They brought in AJ Griffin and Guthrie and hopefully one of them can revert to form and give the team some serious innings. Even after Yu comes back he'll still need to take it easy and not do too much, I can see them using a modified 6 man rotation...

If you haven't seen this yet looks like Josh is gonna be on the DL to start the season. This little tidbit of information means Spring Training is going to get a bit more exciting for someone who is a LH bat and can play LF. Maybe they go outside of the organization (David Murphy or Will Venable) or they try one of the young'uns from the minors which includes Jones, Gallo, and Mazara...

Well it looks like they finally decided to do what I suggested back in October, they signed Stubbs to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training...

Have also heard they are having talks with Ian Desmond, which means they would have to give up the 19th pick if they sign him. (Which I hope they don't)...

Everytime you turn around he's hurt for one reason or another, and he's not healthy long enough in between DL stints that you can see/figure out if there is any BOOM left in the bat... If it were me and he has a couple more DL stints I would make the command decision to put Mazara/Brinson out there and let them grow into the spot. If (between the 2) they can hit 25HRs and 80 RBIs for a full season then it's a wash, if they do better then you're ahead...

If they can get Drew's bat back to where it was when he first came up then they have a very nice asset for platooning against LHP...

Desmond's BA hasn't been the best the last 2 years but his OBP has never been very good, way too many SOs...

Sadly Josh may be encountering the temporal chastisement for abusing his body with drugs. He knows this and wrote about it in his book.

The only reason he can perform some is he is a freak of nature athlete.

If they didn't have Fielder he would be a perfect fit at DH, less wear and tear on the body and he could probably stay healthy that way...

But you do have to wonder if JD isn't using this as a way to pressure/motivate "Evis" this year since they have already said Profar is going to AAA to get in some playing time...

Joey seems to be improving slowly but surely... Looks like his patient approach at the plate seems to be paying off, his OBP (.500) is going up considerably... Next thing he needs to learn is to foul off the called 3rd strike pitches so he can stretch out his ABs to get the pitcher to make a mistake...

So far he's been hot batting 5 for 8, haven't seen/heard much on the defensive side though. Maybe having Desmond breathing down his neck will turn out to be a good thing...

Beltre looking for 3yr 57M extension, don't think the team will go for that maybe 2yr 32-34M with incentives...

Drew seems to be doing alright with his bat so far, he keeps this up I think he makes ODR (Opening Day Roster) because they have to have someone who can play CF if DeShields has an issue...

He hit another moon shot on a 3-2 count today off Shoemaker.

Watched most of the game on MLB. The rerun is on now.

Holland did ok walked too many but produced ground balls. He's 29 now and needs to show he can put in the innings.

Good game until the 6th when Claudio got bombed for 5 runs I believe. Dyson and Deikman looked good.

I have seen a change with the younger players and veterans. They are more patient at the plate and draw more walks. Gallos box score is getting better. AAA RR this year and he should be good.

Stubbs gunned out a runner trying to stretch out a double. A strike to 2B from left field.

According to the box score it was Renaudo, if I'm not mistaken that makes twice he's been bombed in ST (Spring Training). (Looks like the team should have kept Robbie Ross)...
