I am really stArting to freak out about 2012 being the end and me going to hell for my doubting or there being nothing and we just end. It is not that far away I am so scared I need some hardcore proof GOd is there.

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Go outside. Look around at the sky. That's hardcore proof. He's there or otherwise we wouldn't have the stars, the moon, even the air we breathe.
I know how bad doubting can be Raven. I often worry about 2012 myself because of the type of OCD I have. It seems so possible after all the negative news this year. I mean, on New Year's Day birds fell out of the sky. It's all too weird.
I'm not saying 2012 will be the end. But, personally that's because I believe in a mid-trib rapture. And, I think 2011 kicked off the trib. I'd say that 2014 we all need to worry about. I hope. I need that time to be more assured. Everyone else on this board does too.

Yep. In Arkansas. So weird. The story was all over the national news. Plus all the fish that have washed ashore dead this year, the earthquake in Japan, and the Joplin tornado.

I can't remember the details about the bird event, but I seem to remember that it didn't match up with what the Bible said. I believe that Jesus could come back at any moment, but we should also be careful about what doomsday stories we accept that are presnted to us in the mass media.

I don't think Christians should take ancient demonic pantheistic tribal prophecy as truth...but that's just my opinion. I am becoming more and more assured and convinced that the bible is the ONLY place to trust in the prophetic...even professing Christians get it wrong (*cough* Camping *cough*).

I don't even remember where the whole "birds falling from the sky means the end times are coming" thing came from. I don't remember reading it in the Bible, but I seem to remember hearing somewhere there was something about falling birds in it. (Which, of course, does not mean that it is automatically true.)

No, I was talking about the 2012 prophecy, it is based on ancient Mayan scrolls...the same Mayans who sacrificed people to volcano gods.
The whole falling bird thing can be explained through natural fluctuations in the atmosphere. It could have been lightning, acid rain, strong winds, disease...there are other possibilities outside of the supernatural.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure that the Bible said that nobody but God knows the date that Jesus will come back. All of these people that come out saying the earth will end on such-and-such a date neglect that, and it seems that no human being can know for sure.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that people are so quick to jump onto movements like the one that claimed May 21 was going to be the end of the world. First, I don't think it's Biblical to set dates like that, but also, non-Chrisitans look at that and go, "what a bunch of lunatics." It makes Christians in general look bad. All because they came up with some goofy mathematical formula to determine a date.
