  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, considering that the economy will still be struggling in 4 years... possibly a full-on depression if the Dem's get to spend as much $ as they want... we'll need someone who can really focus on the economy. So far I am thinking Romney should be that person. But 4 years is a long time for the newer names to gain in rep and popularity. If I picked right now, it would be Romney/McCain. McAmnesty will be too old in 2012 though.
Ya Romney was definitely worth considering w/ his economic
knowledge.

Again, our lame media isn't reporting that other countries are hurting
too. They said Japan's industrial sector is falling at a 10% rate
while ours is at like 3.8?

Iceland is about at meltdown & demonstrations are starting there now.

So it's not just us, that's why I think this is a global thing & it's going
to lead us to have to combine together globally. I think we're at
the beginning of that.
I could be wrong, but prophetically, something has to occur to get us
into global union.

How many people knew who Barrack Hussein-Obama was four years ago?

Really? You'd vote for the guy who authored McCain-Feingold and voted for the auto bailout?

How about voting for a conservative, instead?

I just heard on the news yesterday that the GOVERNMENT of the UK is nearing bankruptcy! The whole dang GOVERNMENT!! Of course, they are mostly socialist in their policies. You'd think the lefties here would pay attention to that.

Look at the worst cities in the US. They're all run by Democrats. That little tidbit never really seemed to phase voters.

yes that's what I've seen.
I had even posted the stats so far on democratic cities & how
far in debt they are compared to republican run states.

AMAZING that people don't see any links there!

I hadn't heard this, but it isn't surprising.

I guess they ran out of the rich people to share the wealth?
When you all make the same amount, there's no incentive to do
better knowing it just goes to other people.

The attitude becomes "screw it, why should I work harder than the
other drones who do less?".
I don't see how that could succeed for too long.

Everybody wants to blame Bush for the way the Katrina coverage panned out (even though it wasn't even his responsibility), but I haven't heard one liberal comment on the incompetence shown by the La. and NO. governments. Wonder why?

Bob Newhart was a clerk at the unemployment office in Chicago. One day, while writing a check for an unemployed person, he realized that he was actually making less money working than the other person was collecting on unemployment.

So, he quit his job and went on unemployment. He says that he got an immediate raise.

Answer: Blanco and Nagin were Democrats

And few gave Jindal credit for the awesome job he did during Gustav.

had it been Bush and Jindal in katrina it would have been different. Jindal as a congressman for the North Shore did an awesome job during Katrina.

Jindal is the most promising name I've got for 2012, but it may be someone whose name I don't even know yet.

And I think Michael Steele has what it takes to be a great RNC chairman.

But IMO the most important thing to focus on is getting back Congress in 2010, a la 1994.

I don't think moderates like Steele and Huckabee will do much for the party one way or the other, and its very unlikely that Obama will be voted out of office in 2012. It's possible, but the media will hold him up no matter how bad things go. As we see already, he's breaking most of his campaign promises and filling his cabinet and closest staff positions with crooks, but the press couldn't care less...so the average person doesn't either.

I do agree that gaining seats in Congress in 2010 is more do-able, and Steele probably will be a better front man than some of the RNC leaders in the Bush era were.

Agreed. I think Steele will do far more good than bad. I wouldn't even go so far as to call him a moderate. I think he was forced to operate that way because of where he was governing. Right or wrong.

I'm not sure whom you are addressing there, but I'd put it this way--

I can appreciate that Steele was fighting an uphill battle whenever he was seeking office in Maryland. Not a comfortable state for conservatives, that one!

BUT, anyone who would equivocate on important moral and public policy issues as he did cannot be considered to be in the Goldwater, Reagan, Duncan, Tancredo, Paul, or even Gingrich mold. Equivocation and "me-tooism" is exactly what has gotten the party into its present sorry state, so more of it isn't going to lead any resurgence.

I stated this in another thread~why don't the genuine conservatives form up and solidify a third way? Duncan, Tancredo, Paul, Gingrich~can't they get along enough to lay foundation for something better? Sure it would be a rocky start, but if it is as effective as many think it shouldn't take too many years to get their legs...
