In honor of Veterans Day, below is a picture of my grandfather (Poppa), Howard, who fought in WWII, and also a picture of my 5-grandfather's (lol!) grave, he fought in the Revolutionary War.

My grandfather, Howard Albright: He was a sergeant in the Army and fought in WWII; later in Normandy, while driving a jeep with fellow comrades, he hit an enemy mine and was awarded the Purple Heart. None of his comrades survived unfortunately.

John "Johnannes" Pickard (3-grandfather of my Poppa I believe): I believe it was in December of 1782 while fighting in the Mohawk Valley by Indians in league with the British and American Tories, he was taken prisoner and held captive at Montreal. He was a prisoner for 2 years.

Some one had the nerve today to tell me they are not honoring me because I was in the National Guard and only did a 6 month deployment. I'm sorry, deployed or not, we are fighting for the USA to protect the country, defend the nation and the constitution and so people can be free. It is disrespectful to tell some one you will not honor them because they did not deploy. Honestly, anyone who signs the contract for a ToE or term of enlistment and becomes a GI or government issue is going to be considered a Veteran, because they are performing the most selfless act ever. They are giving their life so others can be free, so don't tell me that you will not honor me...

My mate just died like a week ago over there....it's been really hard for me to take. I have trouble expressing emotions sometimes.

I wish I had a photo of my dad from his army days... ... he's never shared much of his life with me. All I know is that he was in Germany during the occupation around 1945.

On a completely unrelated note... another futile attempt to make myself feel pretty, lol.

I have a picture of myself in military uniform (in my time, all the new college kids were required to take the military training). But, I will not post it here because Chinese soldiers don't seem to have a good reputation among the Americans, and there are so many Americans here.

Puff, I actually have met many soldiers from China and Korea, and they were good friends of mine. I do not have any issues personally with any of you guys. You serve your country the same we serve ours. So much Honor to you. I hope you do post it. Thank you for your service.

I'm really sorry that someone had the nerve to say such a nasty thing to you today. On behalf of many, many people, I say thank you for serving and protecting our country.
