  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

stephanie: one question and a comment..

what is couch hopping? you always have the same smile in all of your pictures. whats up with that?

couch hopping.. what i have been doing the past month and a half. going somewhere and sleeping on someone's couch; maybe it's sharing someone's bed (NOT IN A SCANDALOUS WAY) or their guest room. either way, it's being a temporary fixture in their residence for any amount of time (in seattle, it was every night a new place. in california i stayed anywhere from 2 days to a week at a time somewhere)

&& it's my smile! i think it'll always be there!

I love little Bramwell, aww! Not so "aww" for the bread pukesies though, blech.

Color me crazy, but you look nice in the "hoochified" outfit. Not sure if they make leggings with the toesies separated for thong sandal-appropriateness though. That's something to look up.

Steph - I have to ask...how are you funding your travels? I think it's amazing that you've been able to share your journey with us, but I guess I thought summer camp was the end of the journey - but you're still going! Sorry if I'm being too nosy...if so, just ignore the question. :sorry:

I've been wondering the same thing...:sorry:...and like, do you just knock on friends' doors or do you plan ahead to go from house to house to house or...?? Is this a west coast thing? Maybe us east coasters just need some education on this practice lol. And what do your friends' parents and families think of it? I've just never heard of anyone doing this sort of thing.

haha yeah but when he threw up it was kinda funny? all leggings dont have feet parts! only tights would be like htat and even you can get footless tights these days. i have some but they are navy blue.

Here are a couple of photos that I took on Saturday at the Japanese Garden in Portland, OR :)

SO BEAUTIFUL... and in my backyard!!!!

no worries about being nosy!! when I was in California I was sharing with someone how I REALLY am worried about being perceived as being irresponsible.. not for me, but because it would affect their view on the Lord, you know? "Oh if you're a Christian, you can just do whatever you want and not worry about anything." or something. which is so untrue!

So I am a member of the Salvation Army, right? They pay childcare providers for if they require officers to be out of town. I've done that for three weeks. Between that and my final camp paycheck, everything has been covered. Now that I'm back home, I have two temporary/seasonal jobs lined up. I'll be saving up because between March and May, I"ll be doing an extended California run again.

it's so awesome - I was reading through Acts at the beginning of my California trip and was just so in love with the apostles that got to travel and encourage their fellow believers. It's something I really really prayed about and told the Lord that if he opened up that door, even just temporarily, I would be responsible and take the initiative to do the same.

I plan ahead for the most part! California was very planned ahead.. Seattle wasn't, which was why I ended up coming home early (not that you knew it was early! hah).

Actually I don't know anybody else (aside from my friends who are smaller, touring musicians!) that does it, either. It's kind of not easy.. being really temporary, never having anything of "yours".. a LOT of alone time.

My mom and I had a very pivotal moment this summer when I told her that I loved her and wanted her to be proud of me, but I HAD to follow the Lord's direction, and if the two led separate directions... well, I was going with the Lord. I think the way that I've always been provided for despite not having a lot of money, being in strange places, not knowing a lot of people.. is a huge testimony.

That's all this whole thing is about, is really just sharing life with people and learning from them and encouraging them and sharing with them. late nights talking about God, early mornings full of coffee and exploring and days full of new people.

..but it feels very good to be home for the first time in four months. :)
