See: http://xtramsn.co.nz/news/0,,11965-5182861,00.htmlThe core of the arguments on this thread are about whether the differences that result in greater survivability are a result of intelligence or are random, physical accidents. Can some of you atheists explain for me in greater detail how the alleged promising developments are were dependent on the belief that the differences are a result of a random, physical accident rather than intelligence?

From the article:

"It's a hypothesis that's not testable, and one of the important recognition factors for science and scientific ideas is the notion of testability, that you can go out and do an experiment and learn from it and change your idea," said Kennedy. "That's just not possible with a notion that's as much a belief in spirituality as intelligent design is."

Ponder this for a while and maybe it will sink in.

Why atheist in particular?

Because I know that atheists believe the difference is a result of a random mistake in replication. I have never seen an explanation of what theistic evolutionist believe but I guess ti is possible that they believe some of the gradual mutations are influence by God. I assume the IDists would not be able to provide an explanation of the contribution of the belief in random accidents.

Pondering does not seem to be getting me anywhere. Are you saying biologists could not have come up with these ideas unless they believed that the differences are random?

What is the mechanism for this intelligence? Can this intelligence be tested? If it cannot, then it cannot leave the realm of simple hypothesis.

Yes, random mutations are assumed a priori because scientist are conspiring to rid the world of God.

Evolution is all a lie.

Since evolution permeates all of biology, and much of modern biology cannot be explained without the theory of evolution, it's really a vast conspiracy run by scientists (all atheists) to turn good Christians into communist devil worshippers and set up a one world government run by Secular Humanists (did I miss anyone here?).

Next time you're sick, don't turn to modern medicine, herbs and prayer is all you need! Do not contaminate yourself with the taint of evilution!

Nature isn't really a closed laboratory environment, therefore there is some randomness in the mutation process.

My question is what contribution did that belief make toward the biologists' ideas that may turn out to be promising.

I will ask one more question: Why have none of the replies to this point attempted to answer the question or admitted they do not know the answer?

Read the OP. This reply of yours does not address the contribution of belief in randomness to the ideas of the biologists.
