He may very well win in Oregon, but age isn't a protected class under federal law. If it was states wouldn't be able to set specific ages for tobacco and alcohol sales.

Tabacco and alcohol also isn't enshrined in the Constitution.

The Constitution doesn't apply to private actors. And states are allowed to have certain restrictions on the sale of firearms.

Didn’t work out with California and video games, so I don't think that it will here, either.

States may be allowed...but Dick's is not a state.

And it is indeed against the law for entities engaged in commerce to discriminate against customers on the basis of all sorts of things, age included.

Age isn't a protected class by federal law. It is by Oregon state law, so he might well succeed on a pure Oregon law claim.

It's silliness in my opinion, the whole logic of sending 18 year olds to war...defending our country with greater firepower than guns, and then the idea of raising the age limit to own a firearm to 21?!?! Only fools would buy into this idea that raising the age limit will be effective.

Let’s compromise let’s raise the minimum age to own guns to 80, along with military recruitment age.

That's completely irrelevant to them, don't you know?

Most of the proposed infringements upon the rights of the people are for show and have no prospect of preventing future school shootings, although that was the immediate promise made by the backers of these changes.

Neither of those is a Constitutionally declared right.

Simply put, at the age of adulthood, you get all your legal rights. Including those in the 2nd Amendment.

Also, it should be noted that the media, especially CNN, is portraying these anti-gun spokes-kids as some sort of experts on the subject, or people who's opinion are of special importance...but then pushing policies that would keep guns out of their hands for years to come.

If we as a society deem these survivors not yet mature enough to own a rifle, what reason do we have to think their opinions on items they aren't even allowed to own would have any more weight than the opinion of someone society does deem responsible enough to own a rifle?

The 2nd Amendment only applies to government. A store is not required to sell a firearm to anybody they don't want to, as long as they aren't violating some other law. The CRA doesn't include age as a protected class, though Oregon state law does. He has a fairly good job to win this under an Oregon law claim, but I'm not sure what he's after.

My guess, he just wants to hurt the company's bottom line to convince them to change course.

Citation?

You have to be 25 to rent a car... even former 88Ms.

Renting a car is not a Constitutionally protected right.

Numerous constitutional rights are restricted by age. You can't vote until you're 18 for example. And I can't believe this needs to be explained to our resident constitutional scholars, but Dick's is not a government agency and cannot abrogate a constitutional right. Only the government can do that.

Tabacco and alcohol also isn't enshrined in the Constitution.

Even Scalia agreed that some restrictions on guns are constitutional.
