Hi again folks,
Please enjoy taking this little quiz.
You may answer any questions that you like, and skip any that you like. These are True or False questions, but you may answer any way you like, and leave comments as well.
I will not be grading this quiz, as I am unsure of some of the answers.
If you'd like to open a discussion about any of these questions, please start a new thread or visit a thread already in progress.
This is a non-scientific quiz.

1) Christmas is Jesus' birthday. - I agree with the history presented by "Busted Flat". It is my understanding the church tried to get rid of this holiday as it was seen as a pagan belief. The people objected not because they worshipped Saturnalia but because of all the festivity that went with the holiday including the exchanging of gifts. So, the church and the people struck a compromise by agreeing to keep the holiday but recognizing it as the birth of Jesus rather than Saturnalia. A win/win for everyone

Therefore, the answer is true and false. It is false since we do not know the actual date of Jesus' birth and it is true as we have, by tradition, celebrated this day to commemerate the birth of Jesus.
2) Culture is the tool of the devil. - False.
3) Inanimate objects can be evil. - False.
4) The theory of evolution is correct. - At the risk of being labeled a blasphemer, I would say the answer is true. Before you pick up some cyber stones, consider that the theory of evolution is based on the best available observations / understandings of science at this time. Since there is no way (that I know of) to prove emperically the existense of God, and since science works with emperical evidence, the theory of evolution is a valid theory.
5) The Earth is millions of years old. False - It is my understanding the Earth is billions of years old.
6) There are Angels on Earth right now. - True, probably.
7) God has a sense of humor. - True
8) Jesus could have a living bloodline. - A remote possibility based on what I currently understand and believe but since the key word is "could", I will answer with an unqualified "possibly".
9) Judas is in Hell. - Don't know. Not my place to make judgments on others. That is God's choice.
10) Adam and Eve had no bellybuttons. - Probably true.
11) A person can be both Christian and Muslim at the same time. - I suppose it is possible, but I don't see how. Christians see Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. The Koran understands Jesus as a great prophet. With that understanding, I would say the answer is false.
12) Jesus did smite people. - Don't think so.
13) People who speak in tongues are speaking the language of God. - Hard to say. Those who speak in tongues probably sincerely believe they are speaking God's language.
14) The Holy Grail is still intact and safe. - Doubtful.
15) Tarot Cards have supernatural powers. - No more than any other deck of cards.
16) Christians need to tithe (pay 10% to the church) - My understanding is that people are asked to give of their time, talent, and/or money. All three are necessary. Therefore, I would say the answer is false as it is focusing on only one of the three ways of helping a church.
17) Ghosts are real. - Probably.
18) Nostradamus could see the future. - Apparently so. While he may not be 100% accurate, he did seem to have some insights into future events.
19) All translations of the Bible are equally accurate. - True BECAUSE, the people involved with a given translation are convinced they have created an accurate translation of God's word. I know of no translation that was purposely created to be intentionally inaccurate. Also, we do not have the original manuscripts of either the Hebrew Bible (aka the Old Testatement) or the New Testament. Much depends on what manuscripts are being used, the scholarship of the translators, and the agenda of the editors.
20) Once in Hell, a person can go to Heaven - Not sure. There is a most interesting book by C.S. Lewis titled "The Great Divorce". Granted, it is a short novel, but a very good and thought provoking read.
Sincerely,
