I have a question about tarantulas and that is just how large do they grow to be? Recently my daughter was travelling in Tennessee on a country road and came up over a hill to discover traffice stopped in both lanes. She had to really brake hard to keep from crashing into them. People were running around in the roadway and peering down at something in front of the first car as though something terrible had happened. My daugther fully expected to see an injured body lying on the road, but instead it was a spider about the size of a dinner plate. She said people were rushing about, trying to capture it in paper bags, paper cups or whatever they had in their vehicles, and all of their containers were much too small. She thought the spider's back looked fuzzy as though it might have been covered with babies. Does that sound like a tarantula to you, that would have been hand-fed to grow that large?
