  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

2nd part- Some know I'm having a baby soon, I need help!!!! We're down to 3 names and my husband is no help. My son Choses a different name everytime we ask. So I'll post my 3 names, can you help me narrow it down, PLEASE :help: I'll leave out the last name though.

#1 Karmen Suzanne "Jaycee" - call her Jaycee
( Named after his mom, my mom, his Dad and my step dad)
#2 Jaycee Lane
#3 Tae'gan Lane

When my baby was first born my mum want ed to know the name right away. It took us two weeks to decide. The doctor took the pressure off by telling my mum"his name is Precious"

As a new born I also called my baby buba or lil-lil(cause he was so cute and small). My husband calls him rooopes. It started out being dooopes as in duplicate, but has since become rooopes. It's funny.

Is #1, three names with Jaycee bing one of the middle names?
or are those two names her given names and you call her something different?

My hubby and I went round and round about baby names. He HATES 'trendy' names. So to find something that he considered 'not trendy' was a challenge. He would probably say that both Jaycee and Taegan are trendy ;)

You seem to like Jaycee, so I would go with that. If you're worried that including one grandparent in the name and not the other might offend someone then don't use those names at all.

If you give her 3 names then she's going to have a horrible time when it comes to standardized tests and drivers license and everything else that is printed in a standardized form. Make it easy on her...just pick 2 :)

All that being said, I say go with Jaycee Lane. It's very cute. And none of the grandparents get offended.

Love, Heather

My daughter is "Boo-Bear" or "Boo." No idea why, it happened before I got there. ;) But she really liked seeing Monsters, Inc. where the little girl was called Boo.

My sons don't really have nicknames. I was going to call Seamus "Shae," but it just doesn't fit him. It's almost feminine, and the kid's gonna be a linebacker.

For your little girl, I like Jaycee Lane the best. I would not use Tae'gan because it's not a real name. But that's just my preference. Taegan or Teagan, however, is a lovely Irish version of a Welsh name which means "beautiful."

I like Teagan personally, but that wasn't one of the choices, was it???

I went through the name struggles as well. My husband wanted to name my son after every dead relative in the tree. I wanted the name to have meaning. So I pushed fro Matthew (it means "gift from God") and we fought for the middle name. I wanted Robert, after my grandfather. He liked Paul, Christopher, Roberts, etc. So we settled on Roberts, his family last name and my grandpa's name too.

Before we knew Matt was a boy, he was called "peanut". Now I call him "Matt-Moo" "Bubby", "Baby Boy", and "Matt-Chew"

My daughter's name is Annabelle. :) She isn't named after anyone, unless you count her middle name. My mother and my husband's mother both have the middle name of "Lynn", so we gave it to Anna to include the two of them.

As far as nicknames go, we call her all sorts of things....
Anna, Anna-banana, punkin, lil bit, monster. *laughs* Oh, and she calls herself "Princess Annabelle". lol

Name him/her something that, when they grow up they won't be thinking "What were my parents thinking?" It's nice if you want to call you child Jamacia (my 2nd cousin) but realize the child is going to get a lot of extra teasing because of it. Why on earth any parent would want to do that is beyond me.

Adding my 2 cents to the pot-
Tae'gan makes me think of Tigan- which is an antinausea medication. Sorry- that is the association that comes to mind.

Not to highjack the thread- I have to agree with Svt4Him. I know a 45 yo man who to this day is still called Peewee. I kinda cringe. My oldest is Daniel Frank. I worked HARD not to have people call him Danny. (He is Dan or Daniel) What is it with southern folk and nick names?

I don't know, I'm the only one of 4 kids that doesn't have a nickname. My oldest sister is lee- lee my other sister is Peewee and my brother is Bubba or turd. For me and my son, it just comes out, sometimes without me realizing it.
