Seems my suggesstion was overlooked, so I'm re-posting it for the OP's benefit:

 I think the appropriate action would be to contact one of the moderators instead of ranting about the avatar in a thread. We can't do anything about a person's avatar, but the mods can.

Really, use a bit of common sense.

I know you can't see it now DW, but that was a very early post of his. I think it was even still in the teens, and he did make amends for it and reach out to embrace our opinions and comments on the matter.

There are many in the world who say that playboy/playgirl pictures are "tasteful and artistic" that dose not make them right. Job 31:1 says "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl." Here Job is standing firm in his commitment to purity. He knows that to look at a girl with lust in his eyes is the same as commiting adultery. the same is true of women looking at men. This piece of "art" has a nearly naked man who is, I am sure, to be considered very attractive, thus it may cause some to look lustfully at it. In Matthew 5:28 Jesus said "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." While the picture its self May not be "dirty" what it can do is cause one of our sisters or brothers (depending on their history and what Jesus has and or is saving them from) to fall in to sin. In 1 corinthians 8:13 (talking about eating meat sacraficed to idols) "Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall." We need to be very careful about some things as christians.

1. That we do not cause our brothers and sisters to fallin to sin.
2. The world is watching EVERYTHING we do waiting for us to trip up so they have a basis for rejecting Jesus, justified or not.

I am sorry that I came off as sounding harsh in my original post. I will make no excuses for doing it I just offer my apology. But we really need to be careful about how we as christians are representing Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world. Even something that seems so minor as an avatar that may look lude (what ever the artists intent) can send the wrong message to the world.

In Christ,
Jerry
I couldn't find your orginal post, but on the subject of the avatar - I'm an artist and I found the picture beautiful in the same way I find a rose or in the case of my avatar, a cheetah to be beautiful. I didn't get me all excited.
In real life, most guys built like that are stuck on themselves and unappealing ;-) (not ALL, but most I've seen)
To some people it may look lewd, I recognize that - but to others it does not automatically invoke lustful thoughts. Just thought I'd mention that. I can't see the picture really well, but I don't think his privates are showing and I think the "posture" of the subject is what separates art from pornography or lewdness.

Of course it IS dabatable weather the picture is any good or not. It probably isn't, but oh well. Otherwise, I agree.
