A guy in my youth group has a grandfather who has cancer. He was the father figure in his life; the guy never had any good relationship with his father.
We were at a retreat in Florida (Camp Bigstuf. I know that some people on this forum went there.) when he told us this. The night before we left, his grandfather died. He was understandably shaken up about this but we all prayed for him. During the session that night the producer of the camp mentioned this to the 1500 people there, and they all prayed for him.
The next night on the way home, we got a call from the hospital where his grandpa was. The details that I remember were sketchy at best and I might be exaggerating, but the doctors discovered a blood clot in his throat, got rid of it, and his heart started again! He got very well very fast, and he might even be lucid, IIRC. The doctors were apparently freaking out.
Not only that, but things are beginning to go well between this guy and his father. They told eachother that they loved each other over the phone for the first time in a long time.
Praise God!
