  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Praise God, for He is good! My congregation (St. Paul of Ironton, OH) just celebrated its 150th anniversary this past Sunday (11/15/09). Our sermon was preached by the Bishop of the Southern Ohio Synod, Bishop Callon Halloway. We have several former pastors in attendance (one doing liturgy, one being the cross bearer, one giving the bendiction, one doing the readings, and so forth). A former organist of ours came back to play (we had 3 different versions of A Mighty Fortress). The sun shone through the stained-glass windows and it was just a beautiful service (followed by the sacrament of food, of course, ;) ).

Not a lot of congregations can make it this long (especially switching synods as we did, once being LCMS then ALC and then ELCA by default after the merger). At least, not around here unless it's a Baptist or Catholic congregation.

We have been blessed, and we hope to continue to be a blessing to our community. Just wanted to share with everyone here.

And since it's not Lent, Alleluia! :)
