Point being, it's the same US money being used for the sake of manufacturing without the job losses, retirement losses, and business shutdowns.
You have to think about as a business would which again is why Trump doesn't even bring his manufactured goods back here, does it make business sense? The average production worker pay in Vietnam is 75% less than it is in the states. They practically have to pay no US taxes on offshore revenue. They are literally showing you and telling you they aren't coming back.
If the Vietnamese are willing to work for 75% less wages than us, then we need to increase the tariffs so that their product costs 75% more than homemade products, sold here in the US...

....Then, they have to come back. Or they go out of business. .

For those who are unaware:

.. I am a huge supporter of this. Currently, I see first hand what's happening on Treasure Island in San Francisco, and am convinced that if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere.

This is an island in the middle of a bridge between Oakland and San Fransisco, a place with a severe housing shortage. There is no "demand" for these "new cities" in the middle of nowhere.

What if there are 20,000+ manufacturing jobs that pay $45.00 an hour, and home prices are super-cheap, with state of the art transportation, etc.

Will that change the demand for moving to one of these cities?

Those aren't really Vietnam products. They are American manufacturers in Vietnam. So it's tariff on them. It's the same kind of products that Trump has already provided a exemption in lieu of China. Tariffs just isn't the way to go about this.

And why would those jobs suddenly appear in the middle of nowhere? What is "state of the art" transport?

These Freedom Cities, with their "manufacturing hubs" are an integral part of the Trump tariff plan... We're going to need them, as the tariffs will create the demand for new manufacturing facilities at home, as foreign products become more expensive, and American companies are forced to come back.

....Yes it's aggressive. Yes it's harsh. But I'm willing to do it for the greater good of the country and it's future.

Flying cars.

...Perhaps with Elon's help, it can be achieved. Directional travel could be designated by altitude. Vehicles traveling north are at 300 ft., southbound at 400... all GPS enabled just like the Waymo's wee see all over SF, literally. There are thousands.

6 Billion less dollars American's have to spend on needs and wants. 6 B more the American government has. I would love to believe this is going directly to reduce the deficit, but I am pretty sure next year it will just be a higher deficit.
Therefore?

Tariffs are paid by the American importers, either companies or individuals. So it is just another taxation on Americans.

It isn't your place or trump's to make those decisions. It belongs to Congress. (It's also a fantasy about all of these manufacturing jobs.)

As the American people living in this time, it is our responsibility to make this country better for the next generation. Even if it hurts... even if it costs us money out of our own pockets.

...Otherwise, we become the jerks who failed.
As James Freeman Clarke said "A politician thinks of the next election. A statesman, of the next generation". What I'd like to know is how all this trade war fiasco is going to make the country better for the next generation? What if the tariffs have a negative effect that leaves the next generation with a mess to clean up? Are we then the jerks who failed as well? Don't get me wrong, I don't believe either political party has a good plan for the future of America as things stand today. John Adams said; "

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”

George Washington said in his farewell address "“The common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.”

And why do you not answer my questions? Is because you have no answers, only rhetoric?

They are “integral” to the tariff plan yet haven’t been mentioned, planed nor funded?

Why wouldn't we buy from Vietnam and China?

No, the luxury goods and machine-type products would be produced in Freedom cities. The shirt factories could be relocated to the abandoned factories in existing lower income areas, where minimum wage jobs are desperately needed.

One step at a time... Once the tariffs generate the need, then he'll have the support of both major parties.

...if he starts it now, it's just going to be a fight all the way through.

Why wouldn't we buy from Vietnam and China?
Because American companies won't be producing their products there anymore. You know, "designed in the USA, manufactured in China"?

Not anymore. The US is your Papa now
