10 'best' Scottish Bands?

I probably can't complain, because I haven't heard some of the bands in the top ten, but after reading the article, I'm surprised at some of the bands who didn't make it, particularly The Jesus and Mary Chain.

I only know one Scottish band, the Beta Band, and I think they rock. They are my top 10 Scottish bands

Other than "How to be Dead", I was a bit disappointed by Snow Patrol's newest cd. I'm also surprised that Franz Ferdinand is behind them on the list.

No kidding - I wore out my first copy of The Crossing, and it remains one of my favorite recordings. I don't see anybody else on that list that comes close to the quality body of work put out by Big Country. Their guitars even sounded "Scottish"!

Precisely ................ the UK's best .....

England = Queen / The Police / Dire Straits etc
Wales = The Manic Street Preachers
Ireland = U2
Scotland = Big Country

Snow Patrol are from Ireland. Only one member is from Scotland and the rest from N.ireland. This like claiming the Jimi Hendrix Experience is English as 2 of the members where English.

Gerry Rafferty is the best artist from Scotland. Baker Street is a classic.

I have to admit I haven't heard of most these bands, but I do love The Proclaimers and Big Country Oh and Nazareth are great aswell, though ulitmately, you'll have to add me to the Big Country camp
