Dear Daily Message Readers,

READ: Ecclesiastes 11:1-6
Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NLT) "If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done."
We must be people of courage to go on with our lives in spite of a difficult present and an uncertain future. Since the terrorist attacks of 9-11, the news media has painted a different kind of future than at any time in history. The threat of terrorism has come closer to home than ever before. The alerts are color coded depending upon their severity. The “if” of terror has been changed to “when.” Needless to say, the country is on edge.
King Solomon’s writings in Ecclesiastics 11 gives us some advice on how we can live effectively in such a time as this. In verse 4, he writes, "If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.” Solomon is saying that many people, knowing the uncertain conditions of life, are more inclined to put their life on hold until things improve. Many will not make major decisions until they are sure of what is going to happen. Whether it is not buying a house, going go to college, sharing their faith, the excuse usually goes like this: “I don’t know if it would be safe.” There are too many “what ifs” and Solomon makes it clear that there will never be a perfect time to complete such tasks
Jeremiah is a great example of someone who suffered from the "what if" syndrome. God called Jeremiah, the young son of a Jewish priest, to be His spokesman. Jeremiah protested that he was too young, but God promised His protection and help. Thus began a ministry that would last 40 years, as Jeremiah took his stand for righteousness within a fatally wicked society.
Our world needs Jeremiahs--people who are not afraid to stand for God in a hostile society and take risks for Him. Without these people, the gospel fails to be preached. Will you accept that challenge today?
