How about rather than "name it and claim it," read it and believe it. Isaiah and Peter both describe physical afflictions that Jesus took onto His body for us, so while I agree that there is also spiritual healing, those verses are pretty clearly discussing physical healing directly.

Like so much else that God does for us, it is realized when we believe that He is trustworthy, and keeps His word. I'm not where I need to be in that, but these people running around calling God a liar, supposedly in Jesus's name, aren't operating in Jesus's name, they are operating in someone else's name. Healing isn't because we are worthy, it is because God loves us, but if you can't believe it from God's love, believe it because He is trustworthy and promises.

Im not suggesting that anyone is performing miracles by the power of Satan, that is foolish and dangerous, because that is what the Pharisees did to Jesus before he warned about blaspheming the Holy Spirit. I believe in staying humble and not leaving my place of understanding, and not speaking evil of anyone, as the apostles teach us. I'm just pondering the Word, meditating upon it and looking for answers, and im heeding the warnings that Christ gave us.

Lets consider what Paul said in 1 first Corinthian's 13. What is the greatest? Love. So letting our light shine may be the greatest thing we can do, not miracles.

1 Corinthians 13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing

Mathew 7:22 Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? 23 Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!

1 Co 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Jesus never commanded me to be healed, but he commanded me to walk in love. Maybe I don't have faith that heals but I have faith in Christ. I don't call anyone a liar, i'm just not that foolish anymore. I just want to persevere through the trials of this life and I want to bear the fruit of the spirit. I never saw healing listed in the fruit of the spirit, but I see joy and peace listed there, im only trying to promote those things by following Christ's words, I don't want to see people fall away because they are not healed, i'm only suggesting that no matter what happens in this life that we should set our affections on heaven instead of earthly things. Our everlasting Joy is found in heaven, there is no more sorrow or pain in heaven, but in this world we will have tribulation.

Hebrews 10:35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Php 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above,. where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

I was healed of an 8 year battle with severe Adrenal Fatigue, so you can understand where I am coming from in these posts But I dont n[/FONT][FONT="Arial Narrow","sans-serif"]ecessarily see my healing as a miracle, nor did I pursue one. I pursued God. I just learned how to come into agreement with the principles of the Bible. As my separation to myself, [/FONT][FONT="Arial Narrow","sans-serif"]God and others was healed, my body and mind healed. So, I knew , without a shadow of a doubt, that mine was a spiritually rooted.

Yes, I have a similar story, I was deeply depressed for a long time and I also had no peace, but I feel like God has restored my joy and peace and has taught me how to deal with those things by applying HIs word in my life, so it wont control my life anymore. Praise the Lord. Good night.

No, He didn't, But He DID command the disciples ( and all who have God's Holy Spirit residing in them ) to go and make disciples, heal the sick, raise the dead, give sight to the blind, restore hearing to the deaf. All physical miracles, and Jesus did them day after day for three years, never once did He refuse anyone healing.

"WHEN YOU HAVE SEEN ME, YOU HAVE SEEN THE FATHER"

so you have the power residing in you to do all these things. If you believe.

The miracles were not to prove the power of God, but to display the love of God.

I appreciate your opinion, I am not debating but I am probing for more answers, I think there is a difference, debate is often very contentious and unreasonable, I am trying to avoid that. If I misunderstood your intention then i'm sorry. You seemed to suggest that all those who have the holy spirit would do miracles, and you seemed to suggest that all disciples would do miracles. I was only referring to Paul's words to show that God gives different gifts of the Spirit to different people, and that no man can say Jesus is lord unless the Spirit is in him and so that in itself seems to be a gift. Also, love seems to be the greatest gift, its greater than faith.

Why should you suffer if i have learned to be content? I have found my peace and my joy in being content no matter what happens in my life. Is that not praiseworthy? Joy and peace are precious to me. Praise God that i have found a way to obtain them inside His Word. Maybe you're correct, maybe im weak in faith when it comes to miracles. Or maybe God hasn't gifted me with that faith. But i cannot allow that to steal my Joy and peace, i must use what God has given me which is faith to keep going and not to fall away. I consider my health to be a worldly concern, sure i would like to have perfect health but Timothy didn't so he is an inspiration for me. In my opinion the parable of the Sower teaches me to not allow the cares of this life to cause me to become unfruitful or to fall away from seeking the kingdom. Peace righteousness and Joy in the spirit is what Paul says that the Kingdom is about, its not about food or holy days and in my opinion its not about perfect health either. Im only trying to share my testimony in hopes that it will help others like myself. And i am admitting that i don't know it all, i am searching for more answers but till i get them i am content and that cannot steal my peace and Joy, but being discontent will surely kill, steal and destroy my life in Christ.. Praise the Lord.

"And these signs will accompany those who have believed; in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, they will pick up serpents and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them, they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

We are Christians, we are named for Christ, not Abraham, not Issac, not even Paul, Jesus, who not only speaks the truth, He is truth, John 14:6 He said " I am the way, the truth, and the life."

If you have believed, then you qualify to do the things Jesus said you would do.

1 Co 12 clearly suggests that not all have the same gifts. May i suggest another scripture? Compare this to 1 Co 13, remember love is the greatest, love is greater than faith.

I say this with respect, if anyone here wants to test themselves to see if they have those gifts, then drink poison. If not then maybe our faith isn't what we think it is. Will you stop following the Lord now? No, you will walk in faith, not sight. We cant give up our hope.

Jesus did not suggest we drink poison or pick up a snake on purpose, Just believe what He promised.

So if your mind is already made up and you have decided to continue in whatever infirmities you have, why pose the question in the first place? I know that I have voiced my own objections to the word to others in hopes that they could be a voice of faith to encourage me to believe. If that is your intent then please hear us. God promises that we can be healthy, (with very rare exceptions who He Himself explained it to). It is we who trust our lying senses, and believe the devil to not take hold of what Jesus did for us. Did you hear God specifically tell you that you are to remain ill? Did He explain why? If He didn't, you are not among those exceptions and your healing is available.

My mind is set on not allowing preachers to destroy my peace anymore. I wanted to share my testimony about how God helps me, and ask questions about Timothy as well. But that question still hasn't been answered, you say that only some people are allowed to remain in illness but I see a majority of people struggling with depression and other things but never get healed. People can rebuke the illness and lay hands on them all day but they don't get healed. I'm only suggesting that there are other ways to deal with those things. I'm suggesting that when you claim that all believers have the gift of healing or that all believers will be healed, then you are arming the enemy to inflict more suffering on those people, it sows seeds of frustration in their lives instead of peace and joy, and also causes them to focus on worldly things instead of Heaven. So maybe instead of promising miracles in all situations we can teach about Timothy and about Paul who did suffer with things that God did not take away. These men suffered things and they can be good role models for people. I would also suggest that Paul teaches us to follow His example, and to do the things he teaches and the things he does. So maybe one doesn't need to be an apostle in order to follow Paul's example. I was once accused of denying the power of Christ because I didn't have healing, this seems much like what another poster also did, im not sure that is wise or helpful.

I would like to share a story unrelated to Timothy 5:23 but has much to do with what I am saying about other things. There is this prosperity preacher on TV who always preaches about the laws of reaping and sowing. He's not talking about spiritual things in my opinion but carnal things. Preachers like this had me feeling tossed around by every wind of doctrine, I was so miserable, I didn't have a church, all I had was myself, the Lord and the scriptures. Anyway, this man almost had me convinced in his teaching, but I felt like something was wrong with his teaching, it didn't seem to be the same as I read in scripture, but he did manage to almost hook me one day, I thought maybe there was something wrong with me instead, so I prayed, I told God that maybe I have been a blind fool, I asked God to open my eyes, I knew that humbling myself was right, regardless of whether this man was right or wrong. Then this man answered my question for me, he said that he learned that we don't get what we need by asking but instead by sowing financial seeds. I then knew he was teaching false doctrine. Paul says to be careful for nothing but in all things by prayer and thanksgiving let our requests be known to God. Jesus says take no thought for those things, the birds neither reap or sow but God cares for them, Jesus also says to ask and we will receive, he teaches us to pray for our daily bread. James says we have not because we ask not. Surely this man teaches false doctrine, he cannot possibly be correct if he is contradicting all that scripture. These are the preachers I cannot stand. They take our focus off of seeking the kingdom and put it on worldly things.

I'm suggesting that when you claim that all believers have the gift of healing or that all believers will be healed, then you are arming the enemy to inflict more suffering on those people, it sows seeds of frustration in their lives instead of peace and joy, and also causes them to focus on worldly things instead of Heaven. So maybe instead of promising miracles in all situations we can teach about Timothy and about Paul who did suffer with things that God did not take away. These men suffered things and they can be good role models for people. I would also suggest that Paul teaches us to follow His example, and to do the things he teaches and the things he does. So maybe one doesn't need to be an apostle in order to follow Paul's example. I was once accused of denying the power of Christ because I didn't have healing, this seems much like what another poster also did, im not sure that is wise or helpful.

Or maybe they don't get healed because they are trained to believe a lie. I have been trained to believe lies. We all have.

I've been praying for about a year to get to the point were I am living above what I can see, taste, smell, hear, feel. God honored that prayer, and I am finding out just how much I rely on my flesh and my stupid senses. I have had to choose whether to believe God or to drown, in a metaphorical sense, but still possibly just as dead. It is not easy. I have been trusting my senses too long, and I am too used to it. But in my life it is time to put up or shut up.

Why do people in third world countries get healed regularly of things that we here in "the western world" are willing to die from? Because they aren't so sophisticated as to believe that they have to die just because some "expert" says so. But here, we trust the devil more than we trust God. I'm sorry, but we are sick because we trust the illness. I'm not saying that the illness isn't real, but the Healer is way more real. Sickness is death, Jesus is life. Time to choose. It really is put up or shut up time for me.

I can't make anyone else believe God. I'm not as good at it as I need to be myself. But I can point out that God says He heals, and it is wise to believe what He says. Those scriptures have already been presented, and they mean what they say. But if anyone here would rather believe The Liar than God, I've been there myself.
