1 Thessalonians

I've recently read through the entire Bible (for the first time). Now I'm reading randomly; at my own pace; pausing when I have a question - currently in 1st Thessalonians.

1 Thess 2:13 - "And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe."

Not sure why this particular verse causes me to pause. Maybe because I view God's word differently than I did before. Does the Bible still "speak" to us today?

Well to clarify, the "Bible" doesn't speak to us, its a book. The Holy Spirit can give special insight or revelation into the written word that causes us to view such scripture in a new manner. The Bible is just printed words on paper, its the Holy Spirit that speaks to us.

And also to clarify, the Word of God isn't the Bible. The Word of God is Jesus, the incarnate and living Word who spoke the world into being.

I believe it does. I did lectio divina for some time, the prayerful and slow reading of scripture, I heard a lot more than I ever did before. You should google it, worth a read.
