  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And in 12:20 it says that only the tribe of Judah followed the house of David yet in 12:21 it says that Rehobaom assembled all of the house of Judah with the tribe of Benjamin.

And in 11:30-31, Ahijah Rent his mantle in 12 pieces giving 10 to Jeroboam and keeping 2 for himself saying God will leave only Judah???

I believe that Bejamin is considered to be part of Judah. Look at 2 Chronicles chapters 11-13. At 1st God speaks to both tribes (Benjamin and Judah) but when Abijah becomes king(Judah), it speaks of Judah prevailing over Isreal and Jeroboam.

God says that he will take David's kingdom from Solomon after he dies, but in 1 Kings 11:36 he says that he will leave one tribe. He actually left two tribes, Judah and Benjamin. Why did he say this?
Hi jwsiii,

In context of 1 Kings 11:36, God tells Jeroboam He will give him ten tribes (of the 12 tribe kingdom).

1 Kings 11
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

Yet He leaves one tribe to Solomon:

1 Kings 11
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel: )

But remembering that Solomon is from the tribe of Judah, I believe he retained his tribe but was given one tribe, the tribe of Benjamin.
