  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just when sfs thought he was out of the consortium, they dragged him back in.
It's all for the best, I suppose. This way I get to retain my moral purity, since I asked to be taken off, and still have the publication show up as mine to inflate my citation numbers. If I were cynical about my own motives, I might ask myself why I didn't check that they'd taken me off. But that would be rude.

Dang it. I told them to take my name off that paper, but they didn't. I haven't really contributed to the project in a while.

Please tell me a little on how would this huge work support the idea of evolution?

It has little to say about evolution, beyond recent evolution within our species. It does provide some information that is useful for estimating mutation rates, which are of interest for many evolutionary studies.

Note, however, that scientists are not doing studies to support the idea of evolution, any more than they are doing studies to support the idea of atoms. They have better ways to spend their time.

So, what does it say about the mutation rate?

People usually get credit because they contributed, not because they are current contributors.
I already got credit on the paper about the pilot phase of the project. I really didn't need any more.

The data is being used to put together a family tree of the men (Y Chromosome) currently living in Europe.

"they managed to extract 200 novel genetic variants from Y chromosomes of the most numerous group of western European men. By determining the patterns of these markers in each of the 1000 Genomes Project samples, the team was able to draw up a new family tree for the majority of men in Western Europe."
