  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Self-Sacrificial Service to God

1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 ESV “For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain. But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.” We, as...

Implications that “it pleased the Father” for “all the fullness” to dwell in Jesus (Col. 1:19, NKJV)

Colossians 1:19 states (NKJV): For it pleased [the Father that] in Him all the fullness should dwell. Now, the New King James Version supplies "the Father," but to my knowledge, most understand the Father as the one referred to here. In saying "it pleased the Father" that "all the fullness"...

    Not Called us For Impurity

Walk to Please God 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2 ESV “Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord...

    Choosing Rather to Be

Hebrews 11:6 ESV “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Faith is not some innocuous (lacking in qualities that stimulate or challenge) belief in God – Father, Son (Jesus Christ)...

    He Requires More than Words

There is a secular song called “More Than Words” (1991) that has been a running theme in many of the recent devotions the Lord has been giving me to write. So, I thought I would share some of the lyrics here with you: Saying I love you Is not the words I want to hear from you It's not that I...

Pray For All, Kings, Authority, Quiet, Peaceful, Dignity, Giving Thanks, Pleasing God

Have you seen, or have you heard this scripture before? So many wholesome words and a great teaching by Paul here. 1 Timothy 2: 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may...

Enemies of the Cross of Christ

Philippians 3:17 NIV “Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.” Be wise. Be discerning about whose examples you follow. Compare to Scripture and to the life of Christ. Compare to the life of...

    Live to Please God

1 Thessalonians 4:1-2 NIV “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord...

    Living Lives Pleasing to God

Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” We read in the previous chapter that we, as believers in Jesus Christ, were created to be...

    Our Daily Practice

A Living Sacrifice Romans 12:1 ESV “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” This appeal here is much stronger than just a mere request. Thus, it is not simply a...

    And Without Faith

Hebrews 11:6 ESV “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” This word “faith,” in the original Greek, is “pistis.” It means belief, trust, confidence, fidelity and faithfulness...

    Living Life Above Reproach

The Knowledge of His Will Colossians 1:9-12 ESV “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him...

    Is God Pleased with You?

“For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. And Without Faith It Is Impossible To Please God!

As the Spirit moved on me to write this message, I could not help but think about how I hope the Lord keeps it short because many have told me, “These messages are just too long,” “It is too much information for me to scroll through on my phone,” and so on. Yet, I could only smile as I thought...

    By Faith We

By Faith Hebrews 11:1-3 ESV Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that...

    It Matters!

Believers in Jesus Christ: Is God always pleased with us, no matter what we do? Now that we have been saved, by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, when God looks at us, can he see when we sin against him? Or, does he only see Jesus? Can we believe in Jesus Christ, and be in genuine...

    Our Walk

Thursday, July 20, 2017, 6:00 a.m. – The Lord Jesus put in mind the song “Zeal for Your House.” Speak, Lord, your words to my heart. I read various scriptures (ESV) on the subject of our spiritual walk with Christ. Walk in Daylight (Ro. 13:11-14) Besides this you know the time, that the hour...
