  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do government organized healthcare plans Medicare and ACA have enrollment periods?

I can't buy ACA healthcare until the next enrollment period from Nov 1 to Dec 14 and the coverage begins on Jan 1 2021, just over 6 months in the future. My questions are: If the government wants to reduce the number of uninsured people why keep people waiting until the next enrollment period...

What is the biggest issue of the election and what is the best action?

I think the biggest issue has to be healthcare. It consumes 18% of GDP, and that is more than all of the taxes collected, 17% of GDP, and is 6 times the defense budget and it is still rising. What is the best action? Looking around the World the US has the most expensive healthcare system per...

Obamacare slippery-slope-to-socialism is a one-way-ticket. No going back.

Notice that when Republicans want to "repeal and replace" the Dems always insist "with something better" as a phrase that means "with as many if not more people getting government paid-for healthcare". Fine - take a look at socialism and socialized-healthcare. (Terrible service - just like the...

The centrist Republicans who supported the Medicare and Medicaid expansions might slow or halt altogether the House Republicans' bill to repeal Obamacare. Pro-choice and moderate Republican Senators Shelley Moore Capito (West Virginia), Susan Collins (Maine), and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) have...

Can the US handle an epidemic?

If an actual epidemic is handled in the same way as everything else in the for-profit medical system then: A doctor's appointment would be required, each dose of vaccine would be discussed, a diagnosis of disease required, and with 'informed' consent an individualised treatment would be agreed...

Is it wrong to live together as spouses but not get married?

Two people with health problems would like to get married but they can't afford it because of Obamacare. Both earn $21,000/year which qualifies them to get a good health insurance plan on healthcare.gov for less than $50/month each due to their low income. However, if they get married, they...
