  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Keeping Ourselves from Idols

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols” (1 John 5:20-21). When I was younger, and I...

    Who Will Serve the Lord?

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served...

    Our God is Testing Us

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 ESV “If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the...

Liked by Many, but They Cannot Save

Isaiah 46 (select verses) God is speaking to his children Israel. They were his people by physical birth. So, not all of them were followers of God. Today biblical Israel is comprised of both Jew and Gentile by God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ via dying with Christ to sin and being raised...

Who is Lord of Your Life?

Luke 16:10-15 ESV “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that...

    Denying God and His Righteousness

Galatians 5:16-17 ESV “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to...

    All Worshipers of Images

Psalms 97:6-7 ESV “The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!” This reminds me a little bit of Romans 1:18-32 where we read that what can...

    Yokes of Slavery

Video Talk Galatians 5:1,7-10 “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” “You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I...

    Easter McFeaster

Your treasure your pleasures, Indulgent enjoyment, You follow whoever, And praise the flamboyant. The colors and baskets, The eggs all a plenty, The project, you task it, The purpose is empty. The bunnies with ribbons, The trinkets on tables, By greed you’ve been bitten, You then tell your...

    The Will of God

Video Talk 1 Peter 4:1-2 ESV “Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.” I...

    Old and New Testaments

There are many parallels between what is taught us in the Old Testament and what is taught us in the New Testament, for God’s moral laws have not changed. And whereas all those old liturgical, ceremonial, sacrificial, purification and dietary laws and restrictions of the Old Covenant were done...

They Always Go Astray in Their Heart

Hebrews 3:5-11 ESV “Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. “Therefore, as the Holy...

    Are You Engaged in Idolatry?

1 Corinthians 10:6-7 ESV “Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, ‘The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play’.” I found this definition of idolatry online: “A...

    Are You Full of Idols?

Summary Acts 17:16-28 The Apostle Paul was in Athens. His spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. Partial preterism & Preterism: The modern historicist view

Why is it that the destruction of the temple is seen as the abomination of desolation when the Bar Kokhba revolt seems to line up as a better candidate? It mirrors Antiochus Epiphanes far closer than the first revolt as it even includes Hadrian ordering a temple to Jupiter being built on the...
