  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Syriac Hymn Haw Nurone as a Confession of Eucharistic Faith

I believe and confess, as Coptic priests proclaim in the liturgy after the Epiklesis, that in a properly conducted sacramental liturgy, that the bread on the Paten or Diskos consecrated by the presbyter or bishop truly becomes the actual body of Christ, and likewise the wine in the Chalice truly...

Any current or former Christian Church/Disciples of Christ members?

Please stop putting money/collection plates on the altar

One thing I really wish would stop is the practice of putting monetary offerings right on the altar table, and also the incorrect use of the word “Offertory” to refer to the practice. In the context of liturgics, Offertory refers to the procession in which the unconsecrated bread and wine is...

What if I were to vomit up the Eucharist?

Before I get this question, I just want say that I really liked today's homily by parish priest, he was awesome! He actually went as far as to touch on contraception! Please pray that he keeps this up and keeps going in the right direction! I've also noticed that the Portuguese TradCats at my...

    A question or two

Ok, I almost managed to do my First Saturday devotion. But in the process of doing it, two things happened that I want to ask questions about, one, I'm pretty sure is okay, the other, I'm a bit more concerned about. The first thing that happened, was that I was late in making it to the Church...

Prayers for courage to receive Communion on the tongue

Please pray for me! I'm working up the courage to receive Communion on the tongue without the fear of being sneered at by others. I posted a prayer request on the Catholic Answers Forum, and got just bombarded with messages telling me that I was being scrupulous, and that it wasn't a big deal...
