  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Heart Matters: Jesus Loves Me this I Know

If I had to choose one song which has been the most powerful and helpful for me, I think it would be Jesus Loves Me this I Know. As a pastor, I’ve had opportunities to minister to people facing many types of struggles and heartaches. Really tough stuff. I’ve sat with families as their loved...

Heart Matters: God Uses Us to Encourage the Hearts of Others

As God’s children, we have a desire in our hearts to do good and to please God. But our good desires are often threatened by discouragement. We get discouraged for many reasons. We live in a world full of darkness and evil. The news is full of terrible tragedies and looming dangers. We see...

Heart Matters: Difficult Commands and Spiritual Disciplines

Through His Word, our Lord tells us not only how to act, but what to think and how to feel. I’m thankful that God cares about my heart, my inner life. At the same time, like many Christians, I often find commands related to my heart and mind frustratingly difficult to obey. Consider these...

Heart Matters: The Battle to Not Lose Heart

Sometimes I feel like it is a battle to not lose heart. Do you ever feel this way? Like a part of you wants to throw in the towel, walk away from it all, or just stop trying? Am I seriously considering quitting my calling as a pastor and teacher of God’s Word? No. But I do sometimes (ok...
