  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1 Corinthians 11 - Personal Conviction and Questions Regarding Head Covering

I used to brush off the Biblical prescription of a woman covering her head as a thing of the past or at the very least, something to be seen in a culturally relativistic manner. Almost no church I've attended pays any mind to what 1 Corinthians 11 prescribes to women especially. At first I...

    Exegesis of 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 Study 2 - 1 Cor 11:10 Who's Authority? A bit of self-control.

What does 1 Cor 11:10 “authority on the head” mean? A SIMPLE EXEGETICAL PROPOSAL. I don’t intend to list the different views and translations, other than to say the fact that some translations need to add extra words into the text (“symbol of”) indicates that this has been a difficult verse to...

Exegesis of 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 Study 1 - Is it time to move the angels?

I propose to put forward a number of studies (probably about 8 or more) seeking to exegete 1 Corinthians and explain how it is a a coherent whole. As I do so, I will also touch on Genesis 1 &2 and Psalm 8. This the first study, is a bit of a teaser, as I put forward a new solution to a much...

Veiling, a Christian practice based upon scripture for almost 2000 years, until modern feminist pride said "no" to those scriptures, and OTHERS. The Holy Spirit through Paul instructs Christian women to wear a head covering in church when they pray and prophesy (1 Corinthians 11). Before you...

You probably don't need to cover your head based on 1 Corinthians

I believe as Christians we've all came across the topic of head covering especially in light of 1 Corinthians 11:13-15. However, I want to bring to light another interpretation of those verses based on scholarship. This is mainly based on a podcast episode by Dr. Michael Heiser here (Naked Bible...

    Head Covering: Yes or No?

It has been a while since this topic has been raised in this forum. As someone who wore a head covering in the past, I’m curious to know your thoughts. Do you feel its necessary to cover your head? If so, do you abide by the practice every day or in certain scenarios? Is it only restricted to...

Looking for a church in Edmonton, CANADA

Hello! I live and work in Edmonton, and looking for a church here. I would like to attend a church that is non-charismatic, very conservative, Protestant/Anabaptist, that believes in Sola Scriptura, is a Cessationist, believes the Bible is infallible, and accepts head-covering as a part of the...

    A few questions...(fasting before communion/hats/lack of evangelism)

Hi My name is Israel and I'm a non-denominational Christian. Recently I have been drawn to Orthodox Christianity by its beauty and claims of being the direct descendants of the apostles (which so many different sects claim). But I would really like to know the answer to these questions that I...
