  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The Seductions of an Adulteress

Proverbs 6:6, 9 ESV “Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise… How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?” This lesson, this instruction in wisdom, is not for the person who makes no profession of faith in Jesus Christ. It is for the...

    Hearts Far from God

Isaiah 29:13-14 ESV “And the Lord said: ‘Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people...

    "Speak to us Smooth Things"

Isaiah 30:1-2 ESV “’Ah, stubborn children,’ declares the Lord, ‘who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin; who set out to go down to Egypt, without asking for my direction, to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh...

    Plausible Arguments

A Great Struggle Colossians 2:1-3 ESV “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding...

    The Lord is Exalted

Isaiah 33:1 ESV “Ah, you destroyer, who yourself have not been destroyed, you traitor, whom none has betrayed! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed; and when you have finished betraying, they will betray you.” Intoxicated by Sin There are many people who...

    Hearing and Doing Essentials

Jesus had just talked about hypocritical judging and doing to others as we would have them do to us. He told us that we are to enter the narrow gate that leads to life, rather than the wide gate that leads to destruction. And, then he warned us against false teachers who come to us as wolves in...

    A Second Work of Grace

Palms 120:1-2 ESV “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.” What Lying Lips? What lying lips, and what deceitful tongues must we, the body of Christ, his church, be delivered from today? They are those...

Those Who Work Evil Psalm 59:1-5 (ESV) “Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise up against me; deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men. “For behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men stir up strife against me. For...

    Feelings and Faith

“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the...

    That Woman Jezebel

“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: ‘The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. “‘I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. But I have this...

    Bursting Their Bonds Apart

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” Psalm 2:1-3 ESV Wow! This is...

    Deliberately Overlooking

This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that...

    Fattening Your Hearts?

I live in the United States of America, which is a wealthy nation, an affluent nation in many respects. It isn’t that everyone here is wealthy, but perhaps by third world standards we all are. We have many freedoms and privileges that people in other nations do not have. We are pretty much free...

    Shepherds Who Scatter

“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Matthew 16:13-17 ESV Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say...

    Telling The Truth

A Partial Allegory 1 Timothy 2:1-7 ESV First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and...
