  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is this blasphemous?

So, basically, my friend and I are super close. Like, we've known each other since first grade. We are both Christian, and enjoy quick Bible studies, often over lunch. And, one day, we decided to eat at Panera. If you aren't familiar with the place, just know that most of the items on the menu...

Need healing from God but I can't get it

So last year things happened to me that really messed me up both spiritually. It's a long story but I believe it had to do with demonic oppression. I began to have blasphemous intrusive thoughts and even though I have tried to resist it, it's like those blasphemous thoughts have become a part of...

    I feel troubled

This post mentions topics like suicide and religious trauma. Just a gentle warning. Hello Catholics of this forum. I don't know what to do, and I've been anxious and depressed for a few days now. I'm an ex-Catholic. I left the Church around November 2023. There were many reasons that caused me...

Why do some Catholic leaders seem irreligious? And what is the data on Catholic Priests and other leaders who lost faith during or after retiring?

I recently began experimenting with a Catholic church and became curious how many of them are atheists or may become atheists. I have read statistics suggesting that as many as 4 in 5 "abandon traditional theology" while 2 in 5 will leave the Catholic church. To me, these statistics seem...

What Should We Think About the Rise of Orthodoxy in America?

I recently heard news of another atheist influencer converting to Orthodoxy; and that got me thinking. As an Orthodox Christian converting to Catholicism, while I believe Orthodox are a part of the Catholic Church, I have to wonder if the rise of Orthodox who, generally, are hostile to the...

I want to be Catholic again, but...

Hello everyone, I'm having a dilemma. I'm at the lowest point in my life, and I really want to return to the Catholic Church for comfort, stability, consistency, and a foundation. But there's some massive problems standing in my way.. first is that I unequivocally do not, can not, and will not...

Might want to try out an Orthodox Church, once a month

Hello folks. I am Catholic, but I like how the Orthodox church does not have a Pope, or have anything such as mortal and venial sins, and sticks mostly true to the Bible. Each of the three Christian branches have strengths and weaknesses, but given how the Pope has gone a little woke in 2024, I...

How Catholic monks invented Parmesan cheese

So apparently, Catholic monks invented Parmesan cheese folks. One could truly say, in Jesus we trust first, and then Cheeses we trust second. :) I hope that was a good pun. Quote from Aleteia: "As explained by cheesemaker association 'The Four Madonnas,' Parmesan cheese was first created in...

    God > Money

Hello folks. Today is a devotional about how we should put God first, over financial gains. The verses from Tobit are not from the Protestant canon, but are part of the Catholic and Orthodox canons, though the advice given in Tobit can apply to all denominations. Date August 3, 2024 | God >...

Open Hymnal: A Free Christian Resource for Hymns

Hello folks. Have you guys heard of Open Hymnal? It is a Christian hymn book which is free to use, and most of the songs have no copyright. The website looks like something from 2001, but the Open Hymnal 2014 version is just over a decade old. God bless the folks who have worked on this...

    Al Kresta dies at 73

I just found out yesterday that Al Kresta had gone home from the hospital for hospice care. He had liver cancer. Then this afternoon that he has died. This was a guy that shaped my thinking and challenged me over the years. He was born a Catholic, drifted through New Age stuff, became an...

Joined the KofC - Good or Bad

Hello folks. I made a decision to join the Knights of Columbus, and looking for feedback on the program. Is this a good thing, or is is just not a good idea for a 24 year-old man who does not drive, but can take a taxi? The HQ is about 3 miles away from my place. Alex B.

President Biden mocks our Catholic faith (Catholics & Trinitarians Only)

Hello folks. While I do not like Trump either, as he has tendencies of the wicked man from Psalm 10:2-7 (as I am center, somewhat left, but am still pro-life, but for environmental stewardship), Biden is not good as well, as he echos 2 Timothy 4:3. Joe mocked our Catholic faith. Duration = 5...
