Text used by the Ancient Assyrian Church of the East

The earliest Book of the New Testament is Galatians, which is from around 49 A.D., and like ALL the Books in the New Testament, were originally written in Greek, not Syriac, or Hebrew, or Latin. The earliest Syriac translation was the work done by the Assyrian Christian, Tatian, who complied the...

Text used by the Ancient Assyrian Church of the East

Syriac and Hebrew are two very distinct languages. A Gospel of a Matthew is said to have been written in the Hebrew language. At no time was the Hebrew language ever know as or called "Syriac", this is nothing more than conjecture. The earliest date for the Syriac Peshitta, is the 5th century...

Text used by the Ancient Assyrian Church of the East

I have been studying the text of the New Testament for over 25 years, and I have never heard of this. This date cannot be right, as the Gospel of John was not written till around 85 A.D., even though some modern scholars suggest an earlier date, this would be conjecture at this time.

Can a Christian sin and still be saved?

I doubt that anyone would consider Paul's words here as meaning "eternally", but would be a reference to his earthly life. The use of "αἰώνιος" at the time the New Testament Books were written, has its "limited" duration, as can be seen when used by the Jewish historian Josephus, in his...

Text used by the Ancient Assyrian Church of the East

The Books of the New Testament were originally written in the Greek language. Therefore its witness is by far the greater and more reliable than all others. The earliest date for the Syriac Peshitta, is the 5th century, when it was translated from the Greek by Rabbula, Bishop of Edessa. As it is...

    Some Thoughts on Gehenna

Yes, God can, but the fact is that He has not said anywhere in the Holy Bible, which is our only Authority (being the 66 Books), that He would ever destroy the soul of any human.

    Some Thoughts on Gehenna

Matthew 3:12 reads, "whose winnowing-fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire" The words "He will burn up" are from one Greek word, "κατακαίω", which is used for the...

    Some Thoughts on Gehenna

Any Bible references showing the "Annihilation" of the soul after death? Appealing to the English words like "destroy" and "perish" are non-starters as they do not mean "cease to exist" in either the Hebrew or Greek?

Unsolicited evangelism is not loving your neighbour

"For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2) "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience...

Unsolicited evangelism is not loving your neighbour

    Some Thoughts on Gehenna

Jesus Christ as God Incarnate used the concept of Gehenna as found in the Old Testament, where a fire burnt continually, to show the future state of the lost. In Matthew 18:8 Jesus speaks of "eternal fire", the Greek being far stronger, "the fire, the eternal", which shows that this is to be...

Can a Christian sin and still be saved?

What about people like the ex-pastor from the UK, Roy Clements who is a Reformed Evangelical, who in 1999 announced to his wife and children and his Church, that he had become a homosexual. Read his recent "testimony" here. Why I am still an evangelical Christian by Roy Clements – delivered at...
