  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    twisted imminency doctrine

That pretty much sums it up. Whether you agree or not, that's another story. But at least you seem to be understanding me correctly. Because clearly, in 2 Peter 3 there is the Greek word kosmos and ge to consider. And as far as the world of the ungodly, it is the kosmos of the ungodly not the ge...

    twisted imminency doctrine

That's basically what I'm saying, the fact 2 peter 2:5 and 2 Peter 3:6 indicated it was the world of the ungodly that perished at the time. Which then led to a new beginning at the time. But as men repopulated the earth, it led to more ungodliness post that of the flood. And the fact Mathew...

    twisted imminency doctrine

I'm pretty certain I'm not applying generation in the manner you think I am. Let me try explaining it like this then. Let's start with prior to Noah's flood. Noah's flood destroyed the ungodly living among the godly at the time. Obviously, prior to the flood, those that were part of the...

    twisted imminency doctrine

The following is basically what I'm meaning. I don't know if it will help clarify or not. Let's start with the following in 2 Peter 2. 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly...

    twisted imminency doctrine

Though, I still don't agree 70 AD is meant, it least makes better sense of the text when rendering it like that. I don't know if I can explain it well enough where it at least makes sense to you and to others as well, but I will try. First let's look at what Matthew 24 records. Matthew...

    twisted imminency doctrine

Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. It seems to me if we are going to change 'to' to 'like' we also have to change this part--and they brought him...

    twisted imminency doctrine

That wouldn't be a problem and I could even agree with that if the rapture and the 2nd coming of Christ in the end of this age are not the same event. But if they are the same event I see what you propose being a problem in that case. And I'm sure you do too, meaning concerning the latter...

Isaiah 65:17-19 relates to the eternal state not some supposed future millennium

I wouldn't think that is when the clock starts. He hasn't even went anywhere yet when He is born. Therefore, no need to return. But once He leaves the planet altogether, which He did soon after He died and rose, now there is a need to return eventually. Therefore, this 2000 year window in...

The son of man coming “with” his kingdom

True, but toss into the mix NOSAS and no way does that still equal what you submitted. Unfortunetely, it is debatable though it shouldn't be, as to whether or not NOSAS is Biblical.

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

From what I can tell, pretty much anyone who is not a Premil is an Amil, except for maybe full Preterists and Post Millers. I would then say that not all Amils are in agreement about that. Depending on how one interprets the OD overall has a lot to do with how that same person might interpret...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

Since Premil tends to see a resurrection event at the beginning of the thousand years, a second and final resurrection event after the thousand years, the former involving the good, the latter involving the bad, in that case if every eye shall see Him is not literally meaning every eye, this...

The son of man coming “with” his kingdom

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

It's already obvious to me though I disagree with your interpretation of Matthew 24:30, that you don't take that coming to be involving a bodily coming. Hopefully it is obvious to everyone else as well. Actually that verse does not say it's a bodily coming or that it's not a bodily coming. But...

    The Alternative to a Rapture

If one is arguing that no one but Christ ascends to heaven, how then does one explain Revelation 11:11-12 then? That being mainly my point. You insist they don't actually go to heaven. Why don't they if that that is what the text is plainly saying they do? The same way the text plainly says that...

    The Alternative to a Rapture

Maybe if you are Pretrib it does, yet not everyone is Pretrib. A lot of us are Post Trib. I can't speak for every Post Tribber, but speaking for myself though, I believe there is indeed a rapture, except no ones goes to heaven during it, they are simply changed in the sky then descend back to...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

No matter how you look at though, Matthew 24:30 indeed involves coming in judgment. If it's involving 70 AD, though I disagree that it is, obviously that involved judgment. If Matthew 24:30 is meaning in the end of this age when Christ bodily returns, obviously that too would be involving coming...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

I tend to agree to a degree. I think you are correct for the most part, yet I still tend to reason some of that a bit differently. Daniel 7:9 beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

Let's look at both verse 13 and 14 13 I beheld in a vision of the night, and, behold, he came on the clouds of heaven as the Son of man, and he was present as the Ancient of days, and they that stood by were present for him. 14 And power was given to him, and all the nations of the earth...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

Apparently, Pretrib Dispensationalists likely think that's what it means. Except I'm not one of them. So, I don't share their take on that since I see the time of the AOD(Matthew 24:15) involving the church not unbelieving Jews in the future nor unbelieving Jews in the first century involving 70...

The “Old Greek” of Daniel 7:13

Actually I do since that is the manner which I tend to interpret that. The way I tend to reason Luke 21, for example, up until verse 20 everything is pretty much involving the literal and should be interpreted in that manner. But once the city and temple are destroyed, some things are no longer...
