    Diversity of Baptists

Anyone affiliated with the Pentecostal Free Will Baptists? I've read they started out as a holiness group of Baptists, but eventually accepted many doctrines common among Pentecostals. I believe they generally self-identity as Pentecostal, too.

Pentecostalism & Its Effect on Evangelicalism

Pentecostalism is the fastest growing faith in the modern Church. What is the effects Pentecostalism has had on modern evangelicalism?
  3. Spirit of Pentecost

Fellowship Far from the madding cessationists

Few people will try to defend a cessastionist view of the Gospel. I've watched videos where John MacArthur tries to do just that, but rather unconvincingly. Sixty-five years ago, if any pastor, evangelist, missionary, or other clergyman experienced Pentecost and began to speak in other...
  4. Spirit of Pentecost

    Sleeplessness, salvation, and tongues.

I received the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues, back in February 2016. Immediately thereafter, the enemy started attacking. He tried his hardest to lock-jaw me, and for quite some time, he did just that. I couldn't speak in tongues for the longest, and for a while, it was as...
  5. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

The reason those in the Old Testament, such as John the Baptist, did not speak in other tongues was because the Spirit had not yet been sent back as our comforter. Jesus didn't send back His own Spirit to comfort His followers until the Day of Pentecost, after-which all of those that were filled...
  6. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

I don't see it as sad, but factual instead. In every Biblical instance when believers were filled with the Holy Ghost, they spoke with other tongues. Our experience of "being filled" or "having the Spirit" is no different.
  7. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

The Bible tells us that we must be born of the water and of the Spirit, and that if we have not the Spirit of Christ we do not belong to the Lord. In every instance the Spirit manifested Itself throughout the Word, those that were filled with It began to speak in other tongues. So, yes, I do...
  8. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

Most modern Pentecostals don't even preach the necessity of a believer being filled with the Spirit anymore. If we treat the Holy Ghost as optional, then people aren't going to seek it. Why would any of us seek after something that people in leadership over us aren't telling us we need?
  9. Spirit of Pentecost

    The "Charismatic Movement"

It seems that most churches that belong to Pentecostal denominations aren't as Pentecostal as they use to be. They're pretty much all Pentecostal "in name only" nowadays. Some of them might still have revivalist services were the Spirit flows and the gifts operate, but the majority of them are...

    A Deeper Walk or Judgmental?

You're welcome. I try to drop some tidbits where I remember.
  11. Spirit of Pentecost

    A Deeper Walk or Judgmental?

There is a difference between a Christian being judgmental and having a deeper walk with Jesus. Being a part of the Pentecostal church, and there (often) being a great emphasis placed on one's outward appearance of holiness, others seem to label us as holier than thous, judgmental, and...
  12. Spirit of Pentecost

    The "Charismatic Movement"

Most modern churches' interpretation of "in order" is really stopping or quenching what the Lord wants.

    The "Charismatic Movement"

You're absolutely right. But I was only referring to the moving of the Spirit "in a quiet manner". It simply struck me as odd. I'm sure some people aren't as loud as others when the Spirit moves on them. It just seemed to me if someone was intentionally doing it quietly, then they could...
  14. Spirit of Pentecost

    The "Charismatic Movement"

In a quiet manner? That just seems like compromising and all but quenching the Spirit.
  15. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

You've missed my point entirely. We don't treat anyone differently for not seeing the necessity of such matters of outward representations of holiness, separation, and modesty. Some churches certainly may do that --- I've been to some myself --- but I assure you mine does not.

Is the Assemblies of God no longer a traditional Pentecostal denomination?

If someone is genuinely taken over by the Spirit, they will react to it, albeit in different ways. There shouldn't be any flesh involved in it, but I'm sure we Pentecostals have seen a fair share of phonies. In saying that, the Spirit won't have any part of our flesh. We cannot operate in both...
  17. Spirit of Pentecost

Is the Assemblies of God no longer a traditional Pentecostal denomination?

Yes. These people had already repented and had been living their lives for Christ. The received the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues after Peter prayed for them, and then he commanded that they be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's following the Acts 2:38 message.
  18. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

And that's the problem. In many cases, it isn't different. The Christians should look different. We should take what the Bible does instruct and apply it to current fashions. But more and more Christians are proclaiming this "inner holiness revelation" theology, and erase all traces of any...
  19. Spirit of Pentecost

    Evangelicals Plus Tongues

If inward and outward holiness go together (which I'm certain they do) then we must stop differentiating them. The outward is a representation of one's inward holiness. Your outward will change once the inward is cleansed. If we aren't careful, we get convinced our appearance doesn't matter, or...
