Well, my "perspective" as you put it is that a protesting movement such as the one in Egypt cannot be judged on a singular event like the sexual assault of the journalist. Is this what you object to? Do you regard Muslims as being prone to rape?

Please describe in one or two sentences what your point is. The only thing I get out of it is that the Egyptian protesters are not interested in democracy because a journalist was sexually assaulted, and some others attacked. Is this your argument?

I don't see any real problem. The guy refused to fight because of his family beliefs and lost by default. Both he and the girl he was supposed to fight handled it with some grace, IIRC.

His excuse the morning after is kind of lame. If you got so drunk that he could't "really make a decisions", then you should show some remorse the day after. Instead, he seemed to have shrugged it off by blaming the intoxication.
