    Should Christians Read Harry Potter?

well, Christians believe that there are such things as witches. we can't just pick and choose the supernatural things we believe in. but if Christians believe in a good spiritual force, we have to believe in a bad spiritual force as well. if we believe in God, we must believe in the Devil. the...

    Vampire novels

well, it wasn't quite necrophilia, considering that the girl was technically still alive.... i would most definitely consider it to be perverted, however. *shudders* not every vampire book is quite like Ann Rice's novels though. nor is every one depraved trash written solely...

    Worst book you ever read?

well.....it was really interesting and i enjoyed reading it. i can see why you like it. but i just couldn't stand the ending! i mean, c'mon. she suffers for her "crime" for ten years, while her wimpy boyfriend gets away with it, then when Dimmsedale finally gets a backbone and agrees to run...

    Need Reading Suggestions

have you ever read anything by Francine Rivers? i guess her books probably appeal more to women, but she has an excellent series about the women in Jesus's heritage; Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Mary. i would definitely recommend those books if you want well written, interesting Biblical fiction.

    Vampire novels

i found the scene with the Lestat and the prostitutes to be quite sexual, myself....:o  i guess that could be just me though....

    Vampire novels

that's what i find as well. which is why i stopped reading Interview with a Vampire less than one fourth of the way through. if you're like me, and sexual content makes you squeamish , i'd recommend skipping that one. :amen: i'm picky too. :P was it possibly Twilight or its sequel...

    Vampire novels

i don't read a lot of vampire fiction because most vampire books tend to be extremely erotic(if not downright inappropriate contentographic), which is not my cup of tea at all. also, i try to stay away from books that have anything to do with demonic stuff. however, i have read a few vampire novels and am...

    The Tamora Pierce Thread

i think i started to read those once. they were interesting, but i stopped in the middle of the second or third book when, if i am remembering correctly, the two main characters decided to have sex for the fun of it or a learning experience or something.... that's really not my kind of thing.

    Worst book you ever read?

lol :P that's an interesting way of summing up an incredibly complex and multi-layered work of fiction. i think the whole point of the book was not to rub the characters' wealth in your face, but rather to illustrate the ultimate meaningless of riches and the shallowness and selfishness of rich...

Does anyone know a type of book....

 well, I'm guessing because Salida loves and cares about her friend and wants her to go Heaven when she dies. . . it doesn't really matter whether she wants to be pointed in the direction or not. very often, a suicidal person doesn't want to be stopped from killing him/herself...

The bible as metaphor or historical document

 No offense, but, you seem to be using a kind of circular reasoning here. You say that Christ's teachings can have meaning even if He didn't exist. Well, the whole point of Christ's teachings was to show sinful human beings the way to heaven. If Christ did not exist, nothing he...

The bible as metaphor or historical document

Because faith is not just some nice happy little feeling that makes us want to do good to others. Faith has to be living, or it is meaningless. In order to have faith there has to be something real to have faith in. Sure you can learn lessons from the idea of Christ. But if valuable life...

The bible as metaphor or historical document

 I'm a little confused about what you are asking. But if i understand correctly, than i would say no, Christians should not be content with only the idea of Christ. The idea of Christ coming to earth as a human, telling us all to love each other etc.., and dying on a cross and rising...

    Should Christians Read Harry Potter?

:) no problem. i totally understand how you feel; i often struggle with being judgemental myself (as my mom could probably tell you  ) i agree, it is really hard to deal with situations like this, when you just feel so convicted about something but others don't share your beliefs...

    Movies... with CHRISTIAN Themes..

   I disagree. I don't think it's stupid, i think it's vital. But PacificPandeist and VegasXtian's arguments are just as good or better than anything else i could say, so i'll leave it at that. I couldn't find the specific quote online, but i have Episode I...
