    Prayers

If you could spare a prayer for me. I was camping this weekend and teaching a wilderness cooking class. About 3:00 a.m. heading to the bathroom I took a slip on some mud and pulled an upper hamstring pretty bad. It's fairly painful, though not debilitating. But you don't bounce as well or heal...

Closure Statement for Debate Other Religions

When it was created the hope was this forum would be a place of conversation and conversion. But over the years it has been a place of conflict and the promotion of anti-Christian beliefs. There has been little real debate but much subversion of Truth. As a result, it is being closed.

Debates on Abortion closing, new forum being created

This forum has grown into a place where abortion is often promoted. Debate is a bad name for this area since we do not allow the promotion of abortion. So the choice was allow it or change this area. Christian Forums will not allow that promotion. So we are closing Debates on Abortion and...

Starting sometime in January maybe read the letter(s) of Peter, or John, or James together? If there's some interest we could do a poll to pick the first one.

Devotion you always wanted to try but never really have

So are there any devotions or practices you have wanted to try and may or may not have attempted. For example, lots of people are interested in Lectio Divina but have a hard time starting out. Things like that or more popular ones, like the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, that you have thought about...

    Favorite Catholic Theologian

So thoughts? Who and why. You can pick more than one. I just thought it would be a fun thread. Two of my top ones are St. Thomas Aquinas and Dietrich Von Hildebrand. I can elaborate more later. I just wanted to get some theology discussion threads started.

    Christmas Plans Everyone?

We have our traditional Holy Supper that comes down from my wife's mother's side of Ruthenian Catholics. So lots of pierogi making and such in preparation. We usually do midnight mass, not sure about that this year because maybe some snow. Our Bishop has given permission for extra masses to...

    Poll of TAW for rule

To vote in this poll you must be a member of the Orthodox faith in line with the statement of faith for this area. Keep discussion civil. I might close the thread and reopen it after a cool down if things get contentious and I will not be online to moderate. Do you want this rule: Supporting...

    As a summer project

As a summer project, my daughter chose to translate the Gospel of Mark from Latin to English and back again. Over Christmas, she did this with How The Grinch Stole Christmas. She asked to do a Gospel this summer. I said, "The Gospels are big." She said, "Mark is small."

    Merry Christmas

In the Talmud it is written: " God says: With thy very wounds will I heal thee." On Easter Vigil we say, " O Happy Fault" because we recognize that God does not abandon us but rather seeks us to Love us in spite of sin. If there is pain and suffering in your life this Christmas because of...

Fellow Catholics, a prayer to St. Boniface this Christmas

You are in the Catholic section Thor, St. Boniface, and the Origin of the Christmas Tree | Think a moment on the image in the story. St. Boniface uses his Crozier to stop the sacrifice of a child then stands up to a dark and destructive teaching rather than allowing it. Because Christ is...

Remember that study a few years ago that said that children raised religious were less generous

It's been formally retracted. Previous and subsequent studies show the opposite in children... And that follows into later adulthood. The original study had faulty data analysis that is now admitted by the people who did it. Does a Religious Upbringing Promote Generosity or Not?
