So I was thinking about the fall of Satan. So was Satan created with a free will? Was he created with sin? If Satan has a free will, did he ever have an oppurtunity to repent for his trespass, or was he created for destruction? This leads to my next thought. How was sin created. 1. If Satan was the first being that sin was found in, did God put it there? Did God create Sin. 2. If you say no, then you must attribute Satan as the creater of sin, which you cannot attribute as Satan is a creature and not a creator. If you say that Satan didn't have a free will, then he was forced into the position as accuser. If you say he had a free will, then you attribute Satan choosing sin that for all we know didn't exist yet. 3. Now if we identify the creation of Sin as anything opposite of, contrary to, or outside of God's holiness, then we must also assume that the angels knew of the boundaries and all had oppurtunity at any one time to cross them.

Then I wonder why Satan would be cast to the earth where he would go a wandering. God knowing that the earth was a place for Humans. Why didn't he cast Satan the accuser to another dimension or somewhere other then where Humans would be influenced. Obviously, God had a sovereign plan for the fall and the redemption of mankind.

Next thought.

Angels were not created to experience God as Savior. God created humans to show this side of himself to them. I believe God has many facets. I believe that he created the World and humans that he may show himself to them. So that they may experience God. So that they would love God because of the many facets of himself.

Next thing. I have heard it said that the Isaiah scripture doesn't pertain to Satan. Lets look at this.

Isaiah 14:12
How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

The key word is morning star. Either this is Satan that this speaks of or this is Jesus.

Revelation 22:16
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."
So for awhile I thought, God it appears that the scripture in Isaiah must be talking to you and then I read on where it says.

Isaiah 14:13-
13 You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [3]
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."
15 But you are brought down to the grave,
to the depths of the pit.

16 Those who see you stare at you,
they ponder your fate:
"Is this the man who shook the earth
and made kingdoms tremble,
17 the man who made the world a desert,
who overthrew its cities
and would not let his captives go home?"

18 All the kings of the nations lie in state,
each in his own tomb.
19 But you are cast out of your tomb
like a rejected branch;
you are covered with the slain,
with those pierced by the sword,
those who descend to the stones of the pit.
Like a corpse trampled underfoot,
20 you will not join them in burial,
for you have destroyed your land
and killed your people.

I realised this cannot be talking about Jesus, then I found a verse in Job, Let me reference and continue:
Job 38:4-
4 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone-
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels [1] shouted for joy? *then continues on talking about creation)
Read verse 7 again. There are two morning stars. Jesus and Satan I would speculate.

So then, Jesus and Satan were singing together during creation?? So at what point do we think that Satan rebelled? I know the muslims believe that God presented the man adam to the angels and explained the roll of adam on the earth and told the angels to bow to Adam and Satan wouldn't bow and rebelled... I know this post is long and I have given a little bit to ponder. Please write and give me any thoughts. If you disagree with reasoning, please explain some. I do not wanted a heated debate, but more to ponder and learn more. Please post.

Yo Flames,

You have asked many questions – I’ll address a few. Remember, what I have is ONLY an opinion. We really are not told very much in Scripture about this beings

So I was thinking about the fall of Satan. So was Satan created with a free will?
No, I don’t believe so.

Was he created with sin?
No, probably not. But he did do exactly what God intended and created for him to do. So from his very beginning Satan has sinned and is evil.

Isaiah 45:7, "I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil, I, the Lord do all these things."

If God creates a being he knows is going to become evil, isn’t that the same as creating something that was evil in the first place?

It’s no less thinkable that God would create one who would become evil, than just to create an evil being to begin
with. However, we offer God’s own words in Isaiah 54:16 where he declares, "I have created the destroyer to destroy." And Jesus said, that Satan was a destroyer and murderer from the beginning. (John 10:10).

If Satan has a free will, did he ever have an oppurtunity to repent for his trespass, or was he created for destruction?

Not yet, but according to Col 1:20 – all things in heaven and on earth, will be reconciled to God. Which strongly implies, at least to me that he will at some future point be reconciled.

Satan and his coadjutors are the great sinners in the universe. Yet they were sons of God, and now they are prodigal sons. God does not hate any of His creatures, even when they sin; He hates the sin, but not the sinner. Whether they be man or spirits.

There is nothing that so shocks the sensibilities of some people as to hint at the possibility of Satan and the evil angels being saved.
This is not saying that every one in God's universe is not to reap what he sows, that every one will not receive punishment, not only adequate for the guilt of sin, but also sufficient to burn the lesson in so deeply that it can never be effaced.
Satan's power has always been limited.
God is overruling it now for good to them that love Him. Satan's sins are, in part, sins of ignorance. Our Lord can say to Satan and his angels, "But as for you, ye thought evil against Me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive" (Gen. 50:20).

Does God love his fallen creation?
"God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5: 8.)

There is no text in Scripture that tells us to hate Satan, nor any of God's creatures, no matter how fallen they are. We are to resist him, give no place to him; but we are not commanded to hate him, nor any of his company.

In fact, the plain teaching of the Word is that we should not bring any "raining accusation" against him, for even an archangel dared not do this, but had to say, "The Lord rebuke thee" (Jude, verse 9).

This leads to my next thought. How was sin created. 1. If Satan was the first being that sin was found in, did God put it there?
No.

Did God create Sin? No, but He did create evil.

Isaiah 45:7, "I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil, I, the Lord do all these things."

Will Satan Ever be Reconciled?

“God will reconcile to Himself all things”

Col 1:20 – “It pleases God to reconcile to himself all things, on earth and in heaven.”

Phil 2:10-11 - “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Eph 1:10 – “When the times(ages) have reached their fulfillment – to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”

Acts 3:21 - “Christ must remain in heaven until the time comes for God, to restore everything

Matt 19:28 - “Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne.’”

Col 1:19-20 - “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through blood, shed on the cross.”

Rev 5:13 - “Every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea and everything in them will say, ‘Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the lamb.’”

Rev 21:5 – “Behold, I will make all things new
________________________________________

Usually after these texts are read - some believers try to explain that “every knee will bow” doesn’t mean it will be done gladly by all or that “every creature” doesn’t mean everyone.

There is but one way for God to defeat a rebellious will and bring it into subjection to Christ; He must so transform that person, and/or spirit, that it voluntarily places itself in subjection to Christ.

For so long as a single will remains in a state of rebellion against Christ, able to cling to his or her hatred of God - then at least one power in the universe - the power of that person’s will, is not yet in subjection to Christ.

I Cor 15:25 - “for Christ must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.”
I Cor 15:28 - “When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.”

A ruling monarch(like Hitler) may indeed force a subject to bow against that subject’s will, he may even force the subject to utter certain words, but praise and thanksgiving can come only from a willing heart. [Rev 5:13]

Those who bow before Jesus Christ and declare openly that ‘He is Lord,’ do so sincerely and by their own choice, or they do not at all. They do this sincerely because they have been reconciled to God.

All things, everything, every knee, every tongue, by every creature, on earth and in heaven and in the sea, will be reconciled unto God. If anyone still insists that these will make obeisance against their will, then their actions are merely fraudulent and this will bring no glory to God.

Hitler may have taken pleasure in forcing his defeated enemies to make obeisance against their will, but a God who honors truth could not possible participate in such a fraud.

If God did not say what He meant, (in the above passages) and meant what He said, then: the restoration of all things is not the truth, and I maintain, that no truth exists.

Does this mean that Satan and all the fallen angels will be restored eventually?

In the original language of Scripture, Hebrews 2:16 says, “God is not now laying hold of angels.” So if He is not laying hold of them now, why should we? The present focus is on mankind. However, Colossians 1:15-20 does say all the invisible realm was made for Christ and is being reconciled through His cross. It would harmonize with God’s character for our Good Shepherd—eventually at some future age—to lead His rebellious angels to repentance (Romans 8:19-23, Heb. 13: .

Also, Satan and his minions must first be judged and punished for their atrocities before we can sensibly think in terms of their eventual rehabilitation.

What if Satan is saved?
I personally hope he is, not in his current state, but changed.
The ultimate victory in war is by having no casualties, and the best way to conquer your enemies is to make them your friends.

Those who oppose say:

“I'm not even sure what Satan is much less know if it is something that should be saved...
I don't think angels and demons are what we think they are. The bible says that men blasphemy (about celestial beings) in matters that they don't understand....that we should not make railing accusations against them in the presence of the Lord.”

“So, I'll just take that as a clue that they probably are not what we think they are at all....so if contending with what we think is Satan or a demon, we should simply rebuke it....and as far as their fate goes, I'm just leaving that up to God.”

“I think all we should be focused on is praying for our fellow man. Nowhere in the bible does it say that we should pray for Satan or demons. So, that means that it's none of our concern....out of our domain....and in the hands of the Father alone.”

Col 1:21-23 - “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in you minds because of you evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you be Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation - if you continue in you faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the Gospel. This the Gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature, under heaven and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."

God sent his Son into the world as a suffering servant. The power that was unleashed as he bled on the cross, is the power to overcome all evil by transforming wills, creating a new heart, and renewing the minds of the unrepentant and ungodly ones.

This is exactly what is meant by “reconciliation.”
Remember, the instant transformation, that happened from a Christ hating Saul became a Paul who immediately said, “Lord, what will thou have me to do?”

The blood of the cross brings peace, not the artificial kind that some tyrannical power might impose, but it brings true peace. The kind that springs from within, that is full of life and requires reconciliation in the full redemptive sense.

"""Satan and his coadjutors are the great sinners in the universe. Yet they were sons of God, and now they are prodigal sons."""

Were they sons of God? I thought the only people that were called sons of God were humans.

Thanks for answering, I am not sure if I agree completely with everything you wrote, but thought provoking. I look forward to you posting on the rest of my post as well. Thanks

Flames - you asked:
"Were they sons of God? I thought the only people that were called sons of God were humans."

See Job 1:6 & 2:1:
"Now there was a day <03117> when the sons <01121> of God <0430> came <0935> <8799> to present <03320> <8692> themselves before the LORD <03068>, and Satan <07854> came <0935> <8799> also among <08432> them.
(KJV)

The KJV calls these beings 'sons of God', but other translation uses angels.

I Just stopped in for a moment.......

It is interesting to me that the word sons in the hebrew is the same throughout. It is interesting to me that there isn't a distinguishment between angels and man though. I was confused by the Job 1: scripture, because I wanted to know. Are the humans or are they angels. I guess humans and angels are both sons, and so we are therefore brothers of angels. Correct?
