Yes, God is incapable of doing some things. He cannot make a square circle. But His abilities (or lack therof) to accomplish things are not the same as His power. He is very powerful.

It would be impossible to make a square God could not make a circle.

God is sovereign over all things. It is impossible for God to create something he had no power over .He would be destroying His own omnipotence. God can not stop being God.

God can not lie because it is not in His nature to lie. God will not violate His nature or His word.

God can't lie because ..whatever he says becomes instant reality.
If God said to a rock....you are now a bird....it instantly becomes a bird !
God's word is power itself....and will accomplish whatever is said.
The Bible contains the word of God.....the same word that created this world....and the Universe.
The converted person becomes a 'new creature' ..in Christ, simply by believing what the Bible says.

God doesn't lie.
The Devil does.
In fact, the Devil's first lie was that God is a liar.
Ironic isn't it.
The Father of the lie calling the God of Truth a liar.
This in itself demonstrates that Satan knew that lying is morally wrong and that by identifying God as a liar he would perhaps cause Adam and Eve to have doubts.

Genesis 2
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Genesis 3
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Amen, brother all I can add is the words of our Father in Heaven:

NAS Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that He
should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should
repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or
has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

Praise God , Jesus Christ is the truth!!!
NAS John 14:6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way,
and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through Me.

love to all the saints ,

God cannot lie? Wow, some all-powerful being you have there.

Regardless of whether he can or he can't, he did.

Not in words, but he did deceive people to make them wicked and condemn them.

2 Thessalonians 2
11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

There you have it. God sent them a delusion so he may condemn them. You may say they were already condemned but if that is so, why did God take time out of his busy schedule to deceive them? Isn't that Satan's job?

The deluding influence that you reference is going to happen during the tribulation period. It will affect those who have heard the gospel and not believed/repented. For those who have heard the truth already (before Jesus comes back) there will be no second chance. They will believe whatever lie the anti-christ hands the masses and it will be God who sends the deluding influence. The next time Jesus comes He will not be coming as Savior but Judge. The people who haven't heard yet can still be saved and many will be.

I know this. I have had this debate already. Regardless, why does God send them a delusion? What's the purpose? If they are condemned, they are condemned! Does God with to have a bit of fun with us ol' atheists before we rot in eternal torment? Is that it? God deceives, and that's all I have to say. You can't refute that. No matter what pretext it is in, no matter what setting you stick it in or file you place it under, God decieves.

Matthew Henry's Commentary on this says:

Thus He will punish men for their unbelief, and for their dislike of the truth and love to sin and wickedness; not that God is the author of sin, but in righteousness He sometimes withdraws his grace from such sinners as are here mentioned; He gives them over to satan, or leaves them to be deluded by His instruments; He gives them up to their own hearts’ lusts, and leaves them to themselves, and then sin will follow of course, yea, the worst of wickedness, that shall end at last in eternal damnation. God is just when He inflicts spiritual judgments here, and eternal punishments hereafter, upon those who have no love to the truths of the gospel, who will not believe them, nor live suitably to them, but indulge false doctrines in their minds, and wicked practices in their lives and conversations.

That says it better than I could have.

2 Peter 3:9-10 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

If the Lord is patient toward you and doesn't wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentence and He is because its in His word then He doesn't want you or anyone else to be under that deluding influence. Many will CHOOSE to be under it because they will reject the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have heard the gospel and rejected it then you have condemned yourself.

Matthew 23:37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling."

The Lord has given all of us more chances than we deserve already. Those who come under the deluding influence will have said No one time to many.

2 Corinthians 6:1-2 1 And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain-- 2 for He says, "AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU, AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU." Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"--

Now means now. You never know when you will draw your last breath. God is a God of second chances before your death and before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. When you get to one of those events and have rejected Him then you have sealed your own fate.

Your scare tactics won't work on me. If God really loves me and wants me in Heaven, he'll give me proof that I cannot deny. He knows that I will be just as dedicated to Christianity as I am to atheism if he could prove his existance to me. But he won't, because he can't.

Or is it just that he doesn't care? Either way, he's not worth my time.

Acts 17:30-31 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished PROOF to all men by raising Him from the dead."

If you are looking for a burning bush or Damascus road experience then I wouldn't hold my breath. I understand the desire for God to show Himself to you in a big way as I have struggled with that myself.

Matthew 12:38-41 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. "The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here."

God will reveal Himself to you but on His terms. Ask Him. He knows your heart and knows you better than you will ever know yourself. There will be nothing that you say to Him that will be a suprise to Him. Pour out your heart to Him. He wants you to know Him and to have a relationship with Him. Start talking to Him. Tell Him you don't believe in Him but you want His help to believe.

Mark 9:17-27 And one of the crowd answered Him, "Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute; and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth and stiffens out. I told Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not do it." And He answered them and said, "O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!" They brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth. And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. "It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!" And Jesus said to him, "`If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; HELP MY UNBELIEF." When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again."After crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of them said, "He is dead!" But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him; and he got up.

Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...

God gives freedom of choice...if a person wishes to be deceived....God will allow that to happen. God will not force his truth on anyone. The key phrase was 'have delight in wickeness'. The person wanted to not believe God, to believe a lie...and so God gave them what they wanted.

This is a trick question that those NOT of The Spirit of The Lord God, do not understand.
The correct answer to the question: Does god lie?
is YES. god always lies, for god means a false god, where as God means Jesus Christ of Nazareth with The Father and The Holy Spirit/Ghost.
Capitalization makes all the difference in the world when using the printed Word. amen
i am nothing0(i never capitalize i so i can not be confused with I AM.)
Jesus is The Lord1Praise The Lord1The Lord Jesus. amen

Where do you get the idea that it is not in gods nature to change his mind?
Why did you reply by saying god is not a man yet you say it would not be in "HIS" nature to lie. It would would seem that an omniscient being would have the power to change its mind.
I don't think that anyone can answer the question of gods ability to lie but I would assume that god has the free will to lie but choses not to. If god was incapable of lying than what would be so noble about "him" telling the truth.
