scott peterson was arrested down i sandeigo i had a feeling he wasnt telling the truth  i am not trying to judge him he knew more than what he was saying.

I think your skepticism is warranted.  In almost all cases like these it turns out to be the husband/boyfriend.

I'm seeing too many men killing their wives/children out of selfish reasons. Christian Longo of Oregon, who killed his family tried to pin the deaths of his two kids on his dead wife. Thankfully, the jury didn't buy it and sentenced him to death.

Two other men in Oregon have killed their families for the very reason: they want out.

wouldn't it be more simpler, if the men walked out instead?

:sigh:

Other than the fact that he was fishing in a pier nearby where the bodies were found........what evidence do they have against him? I'm trying to have an open mind about this......to kill his wife and unborn child is an horrendous act. If he is found guilty.......are they planning on the death penalty?

He has been charged with a capital offense, so yes he is eligible for the death penalty. Like sklippstein, I also am wondering about evidence. They do seem to have a fairly strong circumstantial case against him, but when it comes to the death penalty, I would like to see a little more.

I think there is a good possibility that investigators have a lot more evidence than the public knows about.  I seem to remember that they took his truck at some point in time.

Um folks, they haven't even gotten to the trial yet. He hasn't been formally charged yet the last I heard, but the prosecutor is going for double murder. Not homocide, murder. There may be evidence that it was premeditated. If that's the case, it's a different ballgame from homocide.

I seriously doubt they would arrest him without enough evidence to make it to trial. They aren't obligated to submit the evidence to the public. We'll find out what they have during the trial.

If he really did this, dismembered his wifes body when she was 8 months pregnant, he deserves to die.

Circumstantial evidence is all that is required to make an arrest. They have a lot of that. And it was said by the attorney general on TV last night that he definitely would be charged with a capital offense.

I think that I'm a little bit cynical, I guess.

They wouldn't have arrested him without some proof. They don't arrest people on a double murder for kicks. )

I know what you're saying about looking for the good in people Jacque, but girlfriend, we live in an ugly world.

Innocent until proven guilty

I so badly want to think he is innocent, because I can not imagine anyone doing anything like that to their spouse!

I suppose I am searching for the good in people... I Pray he didn't do it

I agree! I too want him to be innocent, but it sure doesn't look that way now.

I was just checking the news channels and the police and prosecutors are saying that when he was arrested he was found with $10,000 and he was only 30 miles from the Mexican border amd heading south. They said that they were afriad that he was going to try and run since Mexican law prohibits people being extridited to the United States if they face the death penalty, which he is facing if convited of both counts.

Hmmm...interesting parallel....

Christian Longo (of Oregon) was found in Mexico, cavorting with a German woman, and pretending to be a journalist. This was after he killed his wife and 3 young children. Although he had the death penalty passed on him, I'm not sure about the extradition from Mexico, as he and his lawyers are appealing that part.

Circumstantially, I think it's interesting that Scott Peterson was leaving for Mexico...certainly not in a way that a grieving husband would behave...plus, from what I remember reading in the news a while ago, he sold either his truck or boat. Getting rid of "evidence", perhaps? Maybe, maybe not.

We'll all have to wait and see, won't we?

Scott's Dad says he is innocent!

any parents will want to believe their child is innocent....no matter how the situation looks to the police. dunno if they're in denial, but it is kind of hard to take it in that your child (no matter HOW old) is capable of taking someone's life. it's up to the police/investigators/judicial system to determine if he's guilty or not.

You are right, of course. I just don't want to believe anyone could kill his wife and son, and casually go about life as though nothing ever happened.

Things I heard on the News: He had an affair a few months prior, some sort of life insurance policies were taken out a few months earlier as well. I heard he sold Laci's car (before the bodies were found= not even keeping it in hopes of her return) He had $10,000 on him when he was arrested, he colored his hair, grew a gotee, had his brothers i.d. on him, all while he was a few miles from the Mexican border.

One thing I do not understand is why he had not ALREADY stayed in Mexico if that was his intention. They have found that he had already been across the border but returned. If he wanted safety, it seems to me he would have just stayed there. (Just my humble opinion. And I fervently hope he did not do it.)

since i live not far from all of this ppl dont know the whole story even i dont , but here are some facts

[1] they found the bodys 3 miles from where scot peterson said he went fishing the day she was missing

[2] he sold her car right after the dissapearance

[3] he talked about selling the house

[4] he was having a affair with a nother women before laci and connor dissapeared

[5] police found 10.ooo $ in cash plus a false id and he dyed his hair etc

iif it hadnt been fo r the police putting a tracer on his car he whould have gone to mexico but hey got him at his parents house in SD

and im sure the police have more evidence that they are not talking about so we dont know what else they found also the police had to put him i n solitariy confinment becasue inmates were threatening to kill him ,
