  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trumpcoin taking Americans to the cleaners as his net wealth soars past $2 billion. Is this how we want Big Gav to behave when he becomes Pres?

I feel the need to correct you. The war on drugs is a war on drugs, except those approved by the CIA (my bros). It's not ineffective, it's effective exactly how it needs to be.
(Sigh.)
Have you read any welfare studies on this?
Anything non-American?
The “War on Drugs” has been going since Nixon announced it in 1971. How many “forever wars” do American’s want to be in?
When a policy has failed for over half a century, it’s time to try something new!
Why has it failed? How do we know?

When you limit supply, you drive up the price.
The high price creates an IRRESISTABLE incentive for drug cartels to grow.

Cartels now rival huge corporations and some militaries. They have their own engineers, their own accounts departments, build their own tunnels and bombs and fund militaries and even build stuff like even submarines.

COST TO AMERICA
The USA has 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s inmates.
That's 5 times the jails!
How much does that cost in extra policing, legal cases, court time - let alone the penal system?
Are Americans really 5 times more criminal than the rest of the world?
No - they are suffering from a failed drug criminalisation policy.

Why?

Because it works. Drug users do not need to go to jail, where they will get a REAL education in how to be a crook.

Instead, if they get some help, then guess what? A lot of the time they get better, and become productive members of society.

The Penrose Effect shows that there is an inverse relationship between the availability of mental health treatment infrastructure and incarceration rates. Countries investing more in mental health services often experience lower incarceration rates, suggesting that addressing mental health can reduce the burden on the criminal justice system.

The statistics do not lie.

America has many terrible social policies - and this is one of the worst.

So, continue the war on drugs and help the cartels grow?
Or start a war on Nixon's ignorant policy, and help your fellow human beings become productive members of society?

Are you recommending I and other people to watch that video?

I don't approve of any of your sources. They're all an attempt to get regular people lost, so I suggest you forget them.

Latin America is the USA's backyard and has been for 100 years. The USA polices it violently, this is a scandalous truth that's should be extremely clear. Cartels would never grow there and become so powerful, unless they were sponsored by the USA itself.

That's aside from cartels from other parts of the world like Hezbollah and the Assad family. They all grew like cancers. It's impossible, unless, you know, the international police, the USA...

Where's the ICC, interpol, etc, and what happened to the war on drugs? It's the war to spread drugs. That's the truth.

Yes, but it’s much easier to reason with someone who possesses an open mind.

Maybe the U.S. should mind its own business a bit more?

Other countries existing isn’t a “problem” to be solved.

I’m convinced that the (relatively) sudden acceptance of widespread cannabis use is one of the only things that has staved off more civil unrest than we have thus seen.

I agree completely but you’ll never get Americans to make their own lives better if it means they have to stop punishing people they don’t like.

My favourite ABC journalist outlines how Trump is taking Americans to the cleaners.
Really, I guess this thread is for those who live outside reality. Look, "investors" invest in hopes of making a dime. Some retail investors (from around the world) invest in brands like Trump, Hilton, Tesla (I'm shorting), Intel......... and their loss is just that: a loss. Some retail investors are gamblers, and I've lost money because of this until I educated myself, but to blame Trump for others' actions is delusional because not many people throw ten-dollar bills out the window, because in the real world we have to pay bills.

I had forgotten all about his coin, and looking at the charts, DJT looks like it has hit a bottom, with momentum turning upward. I might throw ten bucks with a probable chance of getting twenty.

You do not seem to understand the issue others are presenting. That people are, of their own free will, buying these is not the issue.

And this attitude is why America is such a predatory place. The rich prey on the poor by keeping them uneducated, poor and unhealthy.

I have a wide portfolio as befits a man of my calibre.

I think Trump preys on people’s ignorance. When did preying on people’s ignorance become a good thing.

cryptocurrencies aren't investments
Cryptocurrencies are a high risk investment. Many have made significant amounts of money investing in cryptocurrencies. And likewise many have suffered major financial losses from it. Investing is usually a gamble. High risk investing is even more so.

Sort of. Putting out a well known way to fleece money from suckers by a sitting president is the issue.
So you, like Hans, don't believe crypto is a real medium of exchange? Fleecing money from us suckers is what market makers try to do, but to blame Trump for his coin or an IPO is not common sense to those who dabble in investing. I am kinda surprised you're speaking out for all us right-wing and independent suckers, or is this just another excuse to bash Trump?

I think everyone deserves to lose their shirt if they were an ideological investor. I was that way with Google, then Facebook, and it was a costly mistake (good learning experience) because my decision was based on feelings rather than technicals.

Ok, Hans, I've known you for three years, and through our journey I've heard you make this comment to me about crypto; this may be the third time, but I want to say I GOT YOU.

Belk should have a little understanding of blockchain; being in the IT arena, ask him.

Perhaps you would care to address the operational part of my statement? That would be "by a sitting president". I have no desire to discuss the validity of crypto nor your views on investing in general.

I forgot to add that the DNC needs funds. Could your ideology be preventing you from an avenue of funding? I looked using ChatGPT, and there are left-leaning causes, I assume, by liberal techies, but with any organization we should do our due diligence. This can include the socialist here.

Quite possibly, but since the justice department does not persue cases against a sitting president we can't really know, can we? A follow up question, is your morality limited to legality or can something be legal but still be wrong?
So? Only bash Trump?
Is only conservative criticism valid? I ask because this looks a whole lot like a way to minimize criticism without an actual rebuttal. Just label it as "bashing" and dismiss it.

But we can all have comfort knowing the law has a way of following people around.
A follow up question, is your morality limited to legality or can something be legal but still be wrong?
I won't talk to you about my morality before or after Christianity, but my experience with the law is what changed me. At 18, I noticed all my friends going to jail. I joined the service at 21 to break the habit of stealing and drug use, and 8 years later they were all in prison.

Can something be legal but still be (wrong<---- Belk this is a big word)? Reason laws change, but to base laws on feeling is wrong.
Is only conservative criticism valid? I ask because this looks a whole lot like a way to minimize criticism without an actual rebuttal. Just label it as "bashing" and dismiss it.
Well, the guy you're conversing with does not want to talk about Trump when I was talking about investors and crypto.
