  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anti-evangelical evangelicals.

The word evangelism means spreading the good Word to bring more to Christ. Today's evangelicals appear to be doing the opposite. The majority of today's evangelicals' political actions are dissuading most people. In the words of David French: "This is a finding that should trigger soul-searching among American evangelicals. If Jesus instructed his followers to “go and make disciples of all nations,” then it’s worth pondering whether the decision to so loyally support a man like Trump is worth actively repelling millions upon millions of Americans from church."
But I’m not holding my breath."

Funny how you just include trump and left off the other crooks, republican and democrats.
Plus many evangelicals would not know the actual true words to tell to an unbeliever, on how to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life!

It’s not funny. It’s sad. And I didn’t mention Trump. That was David French. And no other person has done so much to discourage the general public from responding to the gospel message. Can you name another who has given Christianity such a distasteful reputation?

You mention trump when you posted something some wrote about him.

Trump has in noway affected the Gospel message. It is people that are teaching a false worked gospel message that are affecting many people.

The gospel message is simple "believe in Jesus for Eternal Life" (God's free gift). So anyone (preachers, churches, etc..) not proclaiming that message is harming the gospel message. And is a minister of satan, Ministers of Satan - 2 Cor 11:14-15 - Grace Evangelical Society

I wonder if you yourself are a stalwart of the Christian faith. Do you support candidates that are pro-abortion, pro transitioning youth and allowing schools to usurp the rights of parents of those troubled youth to intervene. ???

Again, I did not mention Trump. French did. I posted French’s remarks. They weren’t mine. Therefore, obviously, “You mention Trump” is a misstatement.

Clearly this president’s close relationship with the Evangelical Christian population has affected the reception of the Gospel message. Misreading that to imply that the Gospel message is changed is simply careless. The Gospel doesn’t change. However the ability of Christians to proclaim the Gospel has clearly been impaired by this association with the president. As I asked before, name one other person whose affiliation with Evangelicalism has so radically distanced people from responding to the message of the Gospel.

I realize this is difficult. If you are locked into those dog whistles it can be difficult to respect another's faith if they don't concur. But I will tell you honestly I am "a stalwart of the Christian faith". When we get to heaven you can come and check.

Did French write the first post, if not then you mention trump whether you actually wrote it or not. You posted a person writing who did mention trump, so obviously your first post mentions trump. Unless you did not create that first post.

Well for one thing I am not sure how you are defining gospel.

But for the sake of the discussion I will use my definition of gospel, because I believe it is The Biblical definition of gospel. Which is good new and this good news is that God is offering His free gift of Eternal Life to anyone who will believe in Jesus for Eternal Life.

Now with that established using the Biblical definition of the gospel (belief in Jesus for Eternal Life). How has trump actually affected you in telling people about the Biblical definition of the gospel. How many times when you went to tell a person how to have God's free gift of Eternal Life, by believing in Jesus. Did the people say go away, I do not want to hear anything about receiving Eternal Life. Because trump is president and has ruined the gospel.

I think the concern is that Christian Evangelicals have pretty much ordained Trump, condoned every action and refuse to hold him accountable or critique him in any way. For those in need of evangelization with any sense of decency the "Christian Evangelism" is a total sham.
