  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hebrews 4:1-11
9
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased
from his works
as God did from His.
11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall
according to the same example of disobedience.

Overcoming By The Word Of Our Testimony
A Saint has entered the Lord's Rest when they have this testimony:
2 Corinthians 10:
5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against
the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Even As Christ Himself Was Beyond All Condemnation
John 5:
16
For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him,
because He had done these things on the Sabbath.
17 But Jesus answered them,
My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”

The Grace Of God Is Empowerment
Galatians 2:21
“I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes
through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

The Lord's Rest Is Found In Perfecting Obedience Daily
John 5:
18
Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath,
but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing
of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

This Is To Be Led By The Spirit

Galatians 5:18
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Rest Is Attained When The Saint Ceases From His Own Works [Hebrews 4:10]

John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you,
the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do;
for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

This Is The Faith Of The Son Of God
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

This is what God said:

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”

Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Gen 2:1: Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Who gives anyone permission to edit God's Word? God was clear on His rest day, how many times did He repeat it? He even personally wrote it out, so we would not have any confusion on God's will.

There's two different rests being spoken of in Hebrews 4, we can enter in God's rest by faith and "today" hear His voice and not harden our hearts and be in rebellion to God as those in the wilderness what Heb4 is verbatim quoting from David.

Heb 4: 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts
.”

Psa 95:Today, if you will hear His voice:
8 “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,

As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 When your fathers tested Me;
They tried Me, though they saw My work.
10 For forty years I was [e]grieved with that generation,
And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts,
And they do not know My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

And what did they rebel in the trial of the wilderness ?

Eze 20:13 Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Which is what prevented an entire generation from entering their promised rest Jos1:13, their inheritance God promised full of milk and honey.

Eze 20:15 So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands, 16 because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

So today, we can hear His voice Heb3:7-19 choose not to rebel against God like those in the trial of the wilderness and enter His rest through faith.

Those who enter His rest through faith also rest from their works as God did, on the seventh day Sabbath Heb4:10, Heb4:4 Exo20:10-11 Gen2:1-3. In God's rest, there is no rebellion to any of God's commandments, why it brings peace. Isa 48:18

No wonder why we are told not to follow in the same example of disobedience lest we fall too Heb4:11 and why the Sabbath rest, or keeping the Sabbath remains for God's people Heb4:9, just as God said, because who can edit God and the bigger question is why would anyone want to if we want to fear God and keep His commandments. Exo20:20 Ecc3:14 Ecc12:13-14 Rev14:6-12

Who gives anyone permission to edit God's Word?
You can draw your own conclusions by seeing what you want to see.
But there is no day of the week by which anyone can claim that they have
ceased from their own works. Your insinuation is baseless.

None of the verses posted in the OP match what the title of the OP claims.
The scriptures posted in the OP prove irrefutably that the righteous expectations
of entering the Lord's Rest go way beyond simply claiming to observe a day of the week.

God seems clear to me the day He said He rested and told man to rest on the seventh day Sabbath, who are we to tell Him it is no longer a day, no longer one of His commandments, no longer the holy day of the LORD Isa 58:13, but what we say it is.

There is no conclusion to be drawn if we believe God at His word- He said it so plainly. He even came down from heaven to write it out personally.

Even in the NT, still didn't change just as God promised Ecc3:14 Psa 89:34 Mat5:18-19

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”

After the death of Jesus Christ after He ratified His covenant by His death, the Sabbath is still a day and its still according to God's commandment as He promised.

Luke23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Acts 16:13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

Still a day 40 years later and He said up to His Second Coming if you keep reading the next verses

Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

But there is no day of the week by which anyone can claim that they have
ceased from their own works. Your insinuation is baseless.
Yet God said there is, the same day He ceased from all His works, the seventh day, the Sabbath Exo20:10-11. As man was made in the image and likeness of God to follow Him and His example.

Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

God never ceased from His works everyday, only the seventh day.

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works

Exo 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying:

Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

This is not one of those things that is baseless, this is God's own written and spoken Testimony Exo31:18 if we just believe God how God says it, mankind would be living how Jesus instructed us to, not by man, but by God Mat4:4

Why would we have rest for not doing what God says, thats unrest and we see clear examples of this directly with Sabbath keeping in Scripture. Eze20:15-16 Neh 13:17 Jer 17:27, Jer 52:13 why the everlasting gospel message is calling us back to worship our Creator, fear Him and keep His commandments- God’s version, not mans. Ecc12:13-14 Rev14:6-12

Wow, you opened a can of worms.

Did the priests keep the sabbath rest and yet "work" harder on the sabbath?
Their "work" was honoring God, why God never held it against them. Like pastors who preach God's Word on the Sabbath, still not a sin.

Is "worship", ever work? and
define worship?
God does not define spending our time focused on Him on the Sabbath as work, again why priests (Bible version) doing His work, He deemed blameless Mat12:5

Isa 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words
,

The Sabbath according to God, is the day He said to keep holy Exo20:8 laying aside secular work and activities Exo20:10 placing aside our secular desires for the day, so we honor God placing our focus on Him spending sanctified time with our Creator Isa 58:13 why He blessed and sanctified the seventh day Sabbath to do so. Exo20:11 Gen2:2-3

Jesus defined false worship, speaking God with our lips, not with our hearts laying aside the commandment of God quoting from the Ten Commandments for what man is doing instead Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13

We see this play out in the everlasting gospel. Rev 14:11-12 Worship and who we serve is whoever we obey Rom6:16KJV, if we are replacing what God says with another voice, we are serving that voice we replaced God's with., even if we speak God with our lips. God knows the wheat from the tares, He is the one who will sort it out. Jesus said many will say Lord Lord, but He does not know. The Sabbath is a sign says that we may know that He is the LORD thy God Eze20:12 Eze20:20. Its the one commandment that deals with our time with God. Its how we know someone is through time. Its always been very important to God throughout the Bible, He asked us to Remember it for a reason. Sadly, its the one commandment that gets attacked the most.

Being in Christ is a full commitment, living by what God says, not man Mat4:4
